Hi, how did you go with your doctor & the tests? i am going through a similar situation to you (minus the thyroid problems) reading your post and just wondered if you have had any progress :)
Weight gain is common after hysterectomy. Of course, your thyroid could also be a culprit. And your symptoms of hair loss, foggy head, inattentiveness, and memory loss could be signs that your ovary is "sputtering out" as a result of the hysterectomy. Post-hysterectomy ovarian failure happens about 40% of the time (sounds like your OB may not know this or may not want to admit it).
Thank you so much. I have an appointment Friday to see my family doctor. I think Im going to start there. I have already seen my Endo, he did blood work and a 24 hour cortisol test. My results were in the middle range for my thyroid, but he refuses to give me anything or even treat me for this, and told me to see my family doctor. I need a Doctor to care for me along with blood work so I can feel better. If that doesnt work I will go see my OB. I have seen my OB before and complained about this and he just said that my ovary is working, and said that I dont need to take hormone pills. He doesnt like to give those pills to people because of the fear of cancer. Thanks again for responding. I am hoping to feel better soon.
Hi,
Weight gain can be due to both menopause and thyroid issues and because of diabetes or high cholesterol levels. A thorough blood work including FSH, LH levels and thyroid tests will help identify the problem. In the meantime proper attention to diet and regular exercise will help. You can consult your gynaecologist and if it is not menopause then consult an endocrinologist. Hope this helps.
