I was on hormones for years and my doctor, who is from Canada, put me on clonidine and it has been a miracle drug for the hot flashes with almost no side affects.
Clonidine has also been used to reduce menopausal flushing, to treat postherpetic neuralgia, to treat ulcerative colitis, and to diagnose pheochromocytoma.
Clonidine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
The average age of menopause for women in the US is about 51 I believe.
I am 49 and I am going thru it too! I think I have been going thru it for ten years. I know I keed to go to a doctor. I am a wreck! I think I started with the peri pause in my mid 30's and have just progressed to the point of full blown menopause? I don't know, what I do know is I just want to feel normal again. What ever that is. I don' know, my poor family has really been through it with me. God bless them. Does it ever stop? Or do you just continue to decline each year? Until you're dead? Shoot! Gotta run!
I have been in menopause for 1 year, 6 1/2 months and I have just turned 52. I think sometimes it is hereditary as to when things happen to your body. Every month though right around the time I used to have a period, my DH says my attitudes change as if I were PMSing only not quite so severe.
I welcomed Menopause!! After 4 children and waay too many periods, I was ready to take a break from the monthly terror that I would become. lol
I'll take my hot flashes any day of the week!
No, it's not too early. There are women that go thru menopause in their 30's and 40's.
I had a partial hyster last Sept - kept my ovaries thinking that would keep me from going into surgical menopause. Well guess what....I'm in menopause and I'm 44.
Best of luck to you.
