Disenchanted

I had a triple bypass surgery May 25th.  I was walking every evening. I gradually worked myself up to two miles. When my heart rate elevates I get pressure in my neck (pain before procedure) and pain in my ears. They did do an ultrasound on my neck arteries to see if they were blocked. My fear is having to be opened up again.

So you had the cath done recently and they found a clot? That would explain why you were having problems. Try to take it easy when you start exercising again. Being hydrated is so very important. Take a good size bottle with you on your walks.

Well, my cardiologist did a catheterization and found a clog right next to the bypasses they did, subsequently the bypass was not working. Now it appears to be, but it will be a couple more days before I can begin with exercises again. I am really used to the heat after living in Florida for thirty six years the heat in KY is mild. I should drink more water but I feel I do fairly well in that respect. Thanks for the comments.

Good for you for exercising! Did you get the okay from your Dr though about walking two whole miles every evening? I see your from KY so your having about the same weather we are here in St. Louis. Extremely hot! After having a heart attack many of us can not be in the heat for long. My mom had a quad bi-pass, I had a heart attack with one stent placement, and we just can not take being out in the heat. So, that may be what's happening. Are you staying hydrated? That's so important. Is there any way you could join a gym where you would be inside? Many of them have tracks and all of them have treadmills. If that's not an option then think about mall walking.
