Pain Doctor

My husband was abruptly took off his pain medication and not properly weened off of it.  I have been told by another physician that this was a breech of ethics and a breech of the hippocratic oath.  Do I have a case against the doctor?

He was on the Oxyfast liquid (Oxycodone HCL) this is equal to the Oxycotin pills.  He was on them for 4 years.  We are going to go after the doctor.  I contacted an attorney yesterday.  He went into the hospital with severe withdrawal symptoms and with him having a heart condition this turned into a very serious issue because he almost blew his aortic valve and he almost died.
