Post Circumcision Swelling

I had a circumcision last Monday. All appeared well but during sleep I've woken with pain from erections, last night was the worst, several times. After bathing today I've noticed an area where the suture is loose, the skin is puffed out somewhat and that area hurts. Also the shaft just beneath the penis head appears more swollen now than before, toward the base it appears normal, the swollen area is rigid to the touch, although not painful. I am going to call the Dr. tomorrow (not sure if the office has Saturday hours), but my concern is whether this is an emergency type problem. Monday is a holiday, and if I do have a major problem waiting until Tuesday would make things worse. If anyone can help, or has ideas how to reduce sleeptime erections, (I've tried sleeping on my side in the fetal position), I would be most appreciative. I will never take this organ for granted again. Thanks.

Uncle Bob;

There's really no sure way to keep from having nighttime erections.  The best method I have found is to be very tired before I go to sleep, even if I have to stay up and work out or something.  Also, I urinate right before bed, because it seems like I get those erections because my body doesn't want me to **** the bid, and an erection will not allow you to do this.

To the rest;

Definitely follow up with your doctor if you are experiencing pain / discomfort past the time when he or she said you would feel it.  DTee, I would go back to the doc to see what can be done to get the sutures removed.

Had procedure 4 weeks ago and although swelling has subsided, the sutures, which I was told would dissolve and drop off, have not. They appear to still be firmly embedded in the flesh.
I feel as though at this stage the cut has joined already and the sutures are a hindrance to the healing process. Some one please tell me am wrong and I do NOT need to see a Doctor to have them pulled out!

I just Got mine done on Thursday, and I would not do it again If I could go back in time. The pain was unbearable. Anyhow, now I have to deal with this ugly aftermath. Haha, anyhow... It has been 4 days now, the bleeding has slowed(no longer dripping) now its oooozing out of the stitch line. I have the same problem with morning erections, I just put ice on it as soon as I feel it. That seems to put the erection away.

Now, My entire penis(except part of the head) is bruised badly, and my skin on my shaft is swolen out very far. It isnt too painfull, but I sure hope there is nothing wrong. How long untill you would expect the swelling to go down some? And the bruising, How long should that last(they said there will be alot of bruising on me because of the emmount of anestetic they used on me). It is not just a little swelling either, It is very large, more concentrated towards the end of my penis though.

My doctor gave me antibiotics, and I am still taking them. So i would figure the chance of an infection would be minimized. I have tried to ICE it but that doesnt seem to help with the swelling.

My Meds are Motrin(800mg), cephalexin(550mg), and some percocet. It is uncomfortable to sleep with because of the rubbing.. Anyone have any advice for this? I take my pain meds before sleep, and I am out like a light.

Respectfully

Hi. I had a circumcision about 3weeks ago. I have got some bad swelling on the side of my penis just below the cut line too. It didnt seem to be healing either & it went infected which the doctor gave me antibiotics for. The only bit of advice that seems to have worked for me to get the cut area around the swelling to heal is by not wearing any trousers or boxers. So far I have had one day of this and it has healed 10times quicker than when wearing, I feel the swelling has gone down a bit (not much) & I have a scab forming already where as this would have usually taken 3days. You have to let air get to the wound & I find wearing tight boxers at night help reduce the chance of an erection & it moving about & brushing any heling skin off. Just percevere, I think it can look worse than it actually is. Everytime I look at my swollen & cut area it reminds me of a sausage in a hot oven that hasnt been pronged with a fork! lol

How is your condition?  Has the swelling gone down.  I had a circumcision about 5 days ago and do not see that it will heal soon.  I have the same rigid swelling under the cut line although I do not feel a lot of pain the cut line, is sensitive to the touch.  I also has a bad bruise on the head of the penis.

I recommend that you apply ice after the circumcision as directed, I think that is where I went wrong.  The cut was not painful with medication but the healing I believe take longer than advertised.  Consider taking some time off work, because you will not only be dealing with the swelling from the cut but you will also have to deal with the sensitivty of the exposed glands.
