undiagnosed swelling

Hi I was given daktacort cream for my face; whilst using it I had a burning and stinging sensation across my forehead just above my eyebrows over the course of a week my forehead became badly swollen; I could not move my eyebrows (I have a deep crease normally across my forehead) you could not even see the crease....I was prescribed steroid cream for the swelling which started to reduce the swelling. The steroid cream stopped working after the 2nd application and I am now left with a proud forehead which is very doughy and extremely sensitive....I have been to an allergist who said it was angiodema but the medication provided did nothing.
The swelling has now been there for nearly 4 months with no sign of going...it generates alot of pressure above and between my eyes and at times it feels like it is pulsing.

Can you please help?

Are you kidding, your imagination! I can't blame you one bit for going ballistic.
Hopefully this next Dr can figure out what's going on.
No, I've never had to take water pills before. If you do take them you need to take potassium tablets with them also. If I were you I would wait to see the new Dr and ask what they think about the water pills.   Remar

Hi....yeah she has referred me to another doctor....seeing him next week....I don't know where she picked her qualifications up because she said there's nothing there externally the symptoms must be your imagination (this was her actual words)....the assistant couldn't believe it either obviously I went ballistic and I've reported her to my GP.

A herbalist has recommended to try water retention tablets....have you had any experience with them...would they work?

I keep you posted after my appointment next friday..

Hum, the Dermatologist did'nt know what it was? Did she recommend another Dr?
I don't know much about surgery procedures but I wonder if the can drain the fluid.
It's kind of looking like you need to see another Dr and if they can't help, see another. This has got to be so frustrating for you. Hang in there though. You need answers and you'll find the right Dr.   Remar

Hi
I seen the dermatologist yesterday and it was a complete waste of time....she didn't know what the swelling was but on the plus side she didn't think i had sd, eczema or roseaca.
My gp seems to think I have fluid build up in the tissue on my forehead which is causing the pressure and sensitivity (possible a complication from angioedema) (no disrespct to my gp but i think he just keeps taking wild guesses because he admits he's not sure what it is).....if it is fluid on tissue which will not budge is this something the dermatologist can look into....different treatments to remove the build up? i have had tranexamic acid but this has done nothing.

I'm wondering if you may have Rosasea, I know I spelled that wrong, sorry. The Dermatologist can tell your for sure if that's what it is.
Try not to use anything on your face that might irritate it. Maybe you can find a natural moisturizing soap.
Your Dr really should have refereed you to a Dermatologist in the first place if he was'nt exactly sure what was going on because it sounds like the meds he prescribed you made things so much worse.
You can always call the Dermatologist's office and be asked to be put on their cancellation list. You might be able to get in much sooner that way.  Remar

Hi.....the doctor is not a dermatologist, i originally went to see him because i was sufferering from dry skin (not flaky) on my cheeks after washing, swimming etc....i think this was caused by using cheap basic hand wash for washing my face while at the gym (at one point i was nearly washing 9 times in a day)......he gave me daktacort cream wondering if it was fungal or a sign of Seb Derm but 4 months on i still haven't displayed symptoms of SD.
I asked 3 months ago to be reffered to a dermatologist but he wouldn't do it, instead he reffered me to an allergy dept and ear nose and throat dept...neither knew the problem and to be honest they seemed a little confused as to why i was reffered to them.
now he has reffered me to a dermatologist but i have to wait a month to see them.

Now im concerned the daktacort cream has hurt my skin now it is late september and my skin stings (slighty) when i go outside, i cannot seem to wash with anything because my skin dries out although it is ok once i moisterize and it gets oily after a couple of hours anyway......i tried an exfoliating face mask last night and my face was bright red for a hour...
Throughout the summer the only problem was dryness from washing

2 weeks before i went to the doctor about my face being dry my skin was absolutley fine no problems whatsoever....

It's hard to say which med may have caused the problems. It really looks like you had an allergic reaction to the Daktacort.
Is the Dr you seeing a Dermatologist? If not, then you may want to see one.
I think your Dr should have done more testing before you were ever prescribed any medication.   Remar

Hi..thanks for your response.......i was using it for the swelling on my forehead.....the doctor took a look said she wasn't sure what was wrong so prescribed my hydro cream, like i mentioned above the 1st application reduced the swelling a little bit but i am left with a doughy forehead which is creating alot of pressure between and above my eyes...the skin on my forehead before this used  to be nice and tight.
i don't know whether the nerves have been affected because my forehead is extremely sensitive, coldness, spots seem to really hurt it.
I have not used any other medication when the swelling came up.

Its wierd because it has not gone down nor has it got worse.....i wonder if the steriod cream or the daktacort cream have damaged the nerves?

This is a hydro cortisone cream, which you must already know. Can you say what you were using it for? You did have a bad reaction to it but I'm surprised your still having these problems. Were you taking any other medications while using Daktacort?  Remar
