What could my occasional sharp head pains be?

Hello, I have been getting these occasional but intense head pains for a very long time. They happen about once or twice a month. I cannot figure out why they could be happening. I am 15, and in very good shape. The pain is very intense and lasts about 30 seconds to a minute. The pain is located in the back left side of my brain. The other day I was standing in line and I experienced the pain again but it was worse then ever before; it hurt so bad that I nearly collapsed and afterwards the whole left side of my jaw went numb and tingled, shortly followed by a hot flash. I went to the doctor a few days ago for a routine checkup, and while I was there I asked about the pain. The doctor said that it could either be something really small or really big. If anyone could help me figure out what's going on or give me any ideas it would be very appreciated! Thank you!
