Migraines occuring more often

Hi,

I'm a 48 year-old male who has had aura migraines since I was 13. In the past 10 years I've had 3, maybe 4 per year. In the last 15 days I have had 5, each preceded by an aura. They have occurred on weekends and during the week. They have occurred at night and during the day. Additional symptoms that I had not experienced with earlier migraines include: flushed facial feeling, slight chest pressure, and dizziness. I had 2 episodes of heat exhaustion during this summer's drought (blood sugar went low). Since that time I have often felt dizzy upon repeated turning, i.e., reboundng a basketball and turning to throw the ball back to kids. I'm wondering if the issues of this summer have some influence still on the dizziness and migraines? The one food item I can think of that I've eaten recently that may be a trigger is peanuts. They were not a problem in the past. However, unitl the last few days, I had not eaten them since last winter.

Many thanks,
Brian

hi,
The dizziness that you are experiencing can be due to heat exhaustion. Peanuts are documented as a food trigger for migraine, avoid them for some time and see if migraine attacks reduce in severity and frequency. Please keep yourself well hydrated and eat your meals at regular time intervals.

Hello,
What i would suggest is that you consult a neurologist and consider a change in the medication you taking for your migraine. Sometimes a change in the painkillers helps. You should avoild all precipitating factors including strong light/ sun/ loud music/ any foodstuff that aggravates your nausea. Also try to get adequate sleep and see if some antianxiety like alprazolam helps - on the prescription of your physician ofcourse. Try to avoid alcohol and try some breathing exercises to calm yourself.
