hu sband was diagnosed with encephalmacia  1 year ago. The pain he suffers on the right side of his head is unbearable.  ( right frount lobe) He takes great quanity of morphine and it does not kill the pain. He also takes diazpan eplin and has high flow oxygen when required. No one wants to listen and this has but a great strain on the whole family. He has mood swings and when he has an episode he becomes disoriented and slurs his speech he forgets the name of object and calls them somerthing else, by the 3 day he is asking for help ie a gun this has happened on several occaaions
could anyone help?

I understand how difficult this is for the family.

A  pain management specialist may be able to help you control the pain.If the pain is severe the patient may be placed on pain regulating meds that he himself can regulate yet at the same time  prevent him from experiencing an overdose.

Encephalomacia refers to a brain injury that may be due to several causes.Depending on which part of the brain is involved this may involve a lot of changes and deficits which can truly impact your lives.Your husband needs a lot of understanding and supportive care.You may contact support groups and seek consult with a psychiatrist who may help you and your family deal with this.

We have monthly visits to the doctor and have already seen the pain clinic doctors. We were advised to try eplin which we are doing, but the pain continues ,but it is not as often as it was. The headaches are now down to twice a month instead of one a week. We also have a clincial psycholoigst and i see a concellor twice a month thank to work. I was wondering weather the nerve simulator might end this problem once and for all, but we were declined by are primary care trust as they wanted to try all the other avenues first.
