headache

I have been having headaches for about the last 6 months. They are on the right side and very rarely go to the left side of the head. It is like a dull pain or pressure feeling. It doesn't hurt, and is not enough to make me have to change my activities, it just makes me feel tired. My right eye feels like it has pressure behind it, and it affects the temple on that side. This usually start of the morning and go away by late afternnon. Medicines such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen usually help, but soemtimes just eases it. I have begun to keep a headache journal and these tend to happen most often about a week before I start my period, and go for a day or two after I start. A lady that I work with has hormone headches and these sounds like hers.
I have had migraines when I first started my birth-control pills almost 4 years ago. I had a few and have not been bothered with them since.
I have been to my doctor, and he seems to think that it is either my allergies or sinuses. I have trouble with both.
Just wondering what your suggestions were.
Thanks

Hi,
These may be menstrual migraines as migraines are stimulated by hormonal factors. But there is also a possibility of acute sinusitis...try steam inhalation if it is sinusitis you feel better. OTC painkillers taken 2-3 days before the anticipated period date have been found to prevent menstrual migraine. Please discuss this with your doctor.Hope it helps!

Hello.

The headache that you have described is a typical PMS headache. It starts one week prior to start and ends 3 days prior to end of the periods. Check other symptoms of PMS also. Maintain a good sleep schedule, exercise regularly and avoid any stress.

Regards
