I use Naproxen at present, and it does nothing for me, thanks you for your input, I will mention Magnesium, as I have never heard of this myself.
Merry Christmas
Hi again.
Methylprednisolone is not an ergot alkaloid. And your heart condition should not be a problem.
Have you tried Naproxen ? And there is strong evidence for Magnesium being useful for cluster headaches. It prevents frequent recurrence.

I have a heart condition, (mitro/aortic valve replacement) diagnosed with chronic clusters, does this mean methylprednisolone is concidered an ergot and something I could not try? I am with a new Neurologist whom is not quit familar with clusters. I am in the prime season for some whoppers now and do not know what I can take for fast relief.
Hi,
Yes methylprednisolone is used to treat an acute attack of cluster headache. Other medications are used simultaneouslt to prevent further attacks and they include sumatriptan, Ergot alkaloids etc. But do not try self medication and consult your physician for any change in medication or doses.
Hello.
Yes, Methylprednisolone is prescribed for Cluster Headaches. It helps in a short term control, but can not prevent further attacks.
