temple nerve pain

i have pain in the nerves right above my jaw at the temple. its more so on the right side than the left side. i have pressure in the right side of the head, and numbness on the left side. This lasts all day long. Any idea as to what it might be? Could it be TMJ? Thaks.

Your sx could be that of TMJ but w/ it being more one sided instead of bi-lateral
it could be something else. There are nerves that run along the face and side of head called Trigeminal Nerves. Is this a constant pain or is it more like a shooting, stabbing, aching, pain that comes and goes throughout the day? How long have you been having this type of problem?

This could be Neurological in nature, so with that being said, I would make an appt w/ a Neurologist for a more thorough evaluation. Again, it could be nothing, but maybe a clinching of your teeth at night while you are sleeping and when you wake those muscles are fatigued / over worked.  But once again, a muscle and a nerve pain are certainly two different things.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
How are you? Temporomandibul ar Joint (TMJ) Headaches present with a muscle-contraction type of pain. It can be accompanied by a painful "clicking" sound on opening the jaw and can be caused by malocclusion (poor bite), stress, and jaw clenching. Treatment includes relaxation, biofeedback, or use of bite plate. In your case, if the numbness persists, have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Your complete medical history and neurological examination will help. Take care and do keep us posted.
