AM I Pregnant or is this another miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage in April.  It has been really hard on me but I think I am pregnant again.  I was supposed to get my period today.  Light bleeding, just on the toilet paper on Friday, took a pregnancy test then, it was positive.  Had a tiny bit of spotting, again just on the toilet paper, yesterday.  Sorry but I am going to get graphic, but had more spotting on the toilet paper today after a BM.  The spotting has always been brown.  Plus, I have a light cramping feeling.  Took another pregnancy test today, positive again.  Last time when I was pregnant, I knew right away bc I my breasts were so sore, even before my missed period.  My breasts hurt now but more like period pain.  Plus, I am having loose stools.  Am I over-analyzing?  It is hard for me to get excited when in the back of my mind, there is always that worry that it will happen again.  Thanks for your help!

I called the doctor this morning.  They want me to get blood work (of course) but I was already on my way out of town.  I told them if they really feel it is necessary, I would turn around get the blood work.  I also told them that I realize at this stage there is nothing they can do.  I hope that they did not think I was cold for wanting to wait until Thursday to get the blood test but I know that whatever will be will be.  The nurse was really great about it, I think she felt badly when I started to cry, and said that Thursday is fine.  I will let you know when I hear something.  Thanks for your answers!

Hey

I agree with adgal, if you have had two positives it is likely you have hcg in your system and it is very difficult to determine whether it is a possible miscarriage or a viable pregnancy.  The best advice I can give you is it to do a blood test to know for sure.  Several women do bleed during early pregnancy.  I also miscarried in April and I know how difficult it is when you ttc again and all of the fears you are faced.

Try and stay positive and take each day as it comes :)

Hi there.  I am sorry you are having a difficult time of it.  A pregnancy after a miscarriage is always so worrisome.

First off, I would say that it is pretty safe to say you are pregnant.  False positives are very rare, and to have two of them is pretty unlikely, especially if you read them in the time allotted in the instructions.  So congratulations to you.

As for the spotting, it is really impossible to say whether or not this is another miscarriage. Many women will spot during first trimester, and very early on is very common.  Light cramping is also normal.  Spotting can be caused by things like intercourse or even straining to have a bowel movement.  None of these activities will hurt the baby, but can irritate the cervix which is very soft right now.

If it is a miscarriage (at this stage it would be called a chemical pregnancy) it will typically slowly get heavier until it is like a heavy period.

All you can really do right now is have your HCG levels checked by a Dr.  They will take two blood tests about 2 to 3 days apart and look to see they are rising.  If they are, that can be an indicator that all is well.  If they go down, then you have experienced another loss.

If you continue spotting/bleeding they will usually do this until you are far enough along for an ultrasound.  That is the best indicator as to what is happening.  Unfortunately you are about 2 weeks away from being able to have a reliable ultrasound, although one done earlier (in about a week) should show a sac and be able to determine that it is measuring appropriately.

Even if the blood turns red it is not necessarily a bad sign, so don't worry to much about that.

i wish you well, and please let us know how you are doing.  I know the "wait and see" is the worst, but unfortunately that is really all you can do right now.  Take care.
