pads!!! my doctor told me not to put anything in my vagina for 6 weeks after the m/c including tampons. inserting things in there can cause infections and you dont want that. good luck with everything....

My doctor told me to use pads using my bleeding from the D&C.  He told me once I got my first period my body should be healed enough to use tampons.  I know how uncomfortable and "diaperish" (for lack of a better term) pads can feel.  I was very eager to get back to tampons.  Be prepared for a heavy period than you expect.

I agree with fairy.  I think most Drs advise to use pads when you have your first period following a miscarriage particularly if you have had a D&C.  I know they aren't nice but it cuts down on the risk of any infection apparently.
