D&C or natural m/c

Hi, I think I am having a missed miscarriage (last Friday: no heartbeat at 6weeks6days), which is expected to be confirmed at today's ultrasound.  My doctor said we should do a DNC today if no heartbeat, etc.  However, there does appear to be a higher risk of repeat miscarriages/ even infertility from a d&c (something called Asherman's syndrome, which is seems most doctors don't talk a lot about).  My goal is to ttc again asap without increasing my risk of another m/c or infertility.  Also, unfortunately, I had prior elected abortion when in college, and the risk of m/c from a d&c seems to go up the more you times you have it.

I am wondering what other people's experiences/research has shown.  Have people who miscarried naturally gotten pregnant again more quickly and had a baby the next time?  Have many people gotten pregnant very quickly with a healthy pregnancy after a d&c (especially if they also had abortions at an early age)?  How soon?

THANKS SO MUCH for your help.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, too, rhomas_943:(  I went ahead with the d&c because my doctor is VERY agressive about pushing that, but I think the pill probably sounds better.  Let me know how it goes.  It sounds like it's the right thing for you to hold off on ttc, give yourself a little break.  I wish I were 25 and had that option!  I would love to take a little break, spend time just being romantic with my husband, etc. (we have a 6 1/2 month old so haven't had as much of that lately)...but instead have to jump back on the ttc wagon right away.  Best of luck to you, and thanks for your support.

hey, i just found out yesterday that I am miscarrying too. my clinic really tries to encourage natural miscarriage and uses d&c as a last resort. but there is also a pill that can be taken orally(i think) that will loosen the cervix temporarily in order for everything to come out easier. i won't do the d&c because i don't want any side effects either. i was thinking of going with the natural mc, but i'm starting to lean towards the pill. partially because i've been in and out of the doc's for a month now i find out for sure what was going on, and i'm ready for it to be done.
and i'm not ready to ttc anytime soon, this has been really hard on me and my bf hasn't seemed to care. so i can't answer that question either. but there are a lot of moms on here that have concieved in as little as 3 weeks after their mc. however, doctors do recomeend waiting at least one cycle before concieving, your body needs to get it's self back in line and on track. so at least wait one period before ttc again. it'll give you a better chance at not having another mc.

I've had 3 D&C's and I'm 20 weeks pregnant with another little girl; my other girl is 16 months.  My OB told me that he doesn't even use any type of tool that scrapes.  He basically uses this suction thing and there's really  no risk of scarring with it.  Ask your OB what method he uses if you're wanting the D&C.
