help

I am 6 weeks pregnant lmp.  I started spotting light pink-brown yesterday.  I am a nurse so I know this can represent implantation.  However, my obgyn advised me to come in for ultrasound to be safe.  I had a transvaginal ultrasound in which nothing was visualized.  NOTHING!!!!  I was advised that I could be too early to show a yolk sak, and my HCG levels were drawn.  Now I have to wait two days, which is bull because I know the results will be available tonight and for sure tomorrow.  Everything I have read on ultrasonography bases milestones around LMP, and according to HKCOG at 6 weeks lmp SOMETHING should have been visible.  HELP I am losing my mind.

IMHO, it's only accurate to date a pg off of LMP if you have regular 28 day cycles.  Lots of women don't.  Do you know when you O'd/conception incurred?  Could it be possible that you O'd late and it's too early to see anything?

I know the waiting stinks, especially when you know better.  Can you call them tomorrow for your results?  Will they follow up with another u/s and blood draw?

According to the first day of my last menstrual period and my ovulation (???) I would be about 4.5 weeks.  I'm sure it could possible to be too early, but the literature I read gave milestones for ultrasounds and something should have been seen.  The woman who performed the u/s was only a tech and the md didn't look at it.  The doc acted very optimistic but also acted like I wasn't pregnant, if that makes sense...  I have had 4 positive HPT and 1 today.  I just keep going back to something should have been seen...
Thank you for your input.  I guess follow ups will be based on my HCG results.  The other thing that really stinks right now is I had started a new job and am without insurance until April 1st.  Of coarse I will do all that is needed despite that, but when I make it known I feel like some corner's may be getting cut.

I'm sorry. The waiting game is just pure TORTURE. I would have told them you want the results stat. It is very very common to have early pg bleeding. I know for a fact 6 wks is usually too early to see a hb or even a sac. Your hcg levels need to be well over a thousad to see anything. Some people can't see anything until they are 9 wks. With this pg I had to go back for a 2nd u/s to see the hb. It was scary. I would try your best to relax. Being a nurse probably doesn't help your worse case scenerio way of thinking. Also remember hcg is not a  definate answer either with every one of my pgs I have always had low numbers. I had to go get a retest  a few times with this baby too. I wish you the best. I know your fears I have been there in the beginning and i'm living them now. If you ever need to talk I'm always here. Try for now to think positive. I know easier said than done but give it your best try. Let me know what happens....

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback.  And yes, this waiting game is HORRID!!  I cant help but feel like we should have seen something.  Partly because I wanted to soooo badly and because I am kinda showing already.  Logic says if my belly sticks out then "B" should be big enough to visualize via u/s.  HAHA.  I feel better now.  It is hard to stay positive when something so precious is at stake.  Anyhow, thanks again for your input and goodluck with your situation, whatever it may be.  I will certainly post a comment with the outcome.
