Did I have a miscarriage?

I think I may have had a miscarriage last month. My periods are always late, anywhere from a couple of days to a week, but when my period does come it is always the same. Heavy bleeding for the first three days and then it tapers off until there is only spotting on the sixth day, and it stops that night. I just had my period, it stopped the ninth, and was a normal period. Last month was very different, I've never experienced anything like it. I started spotting on the sixth, but had no actual flow, that night the spotting stopped. The next day I started spotting again, and it stopped that night. I woke up on the eighth with mild cramps and had a light flow. Later that day I was walking to my bedroom when I had horrible pain in my lower abdomen, I have never felt that kind of pain before and it almost felt as if my stomach was having a muscle spasm. The pain was so bad I doubled over. Then all of a sudden I felt a gush of liquid, I went to the bathroom and it was blood. There was pinkish and white discharge in my pad and a clump of pinkish stuff in the toilet. I had minor spotting the next day, it stopped that night and I didn't bleed again. I have not been to a doctor about this, I was afraid to go. Could this have been a miscarriage?

I agree with Scout. It is possible you had a very early miscarriage but it is also possible you had a weird period (what you described is actually a typical period for me when I am not on birth control...I have tons of pre-period spotting, clumps, clots and pain...which is why I was prescribed the pill!)

I really don't really know from reading your post.  I think it's hard to dx a m/c unless there has been a previous positive hpt.  There are reasons besides m/c that a woman can pass clumps.  It's good that you had a normal period this month, but it might be good to go in and talk to your doc and make sure things are okay.  I'm sorry I couldn't give you a clear answer, but i really just don't know.
