I agree with Melissa guys. It could be the dates were slightly off, because if she possibly just under 6 weeks, heartbeat would likely not be detected. I wish you the best of luck on your next scan.
Hi, sorry for the slow response. Did you and your wife conceive naturally or by IVF, IUI, ect? The reason I ask is, if you conceived naturally, maybe the embryo implanted late, and the dates are off? Even if you did IVF or IUI, this still could be the case. You can also post this question in the fertility forum, you will get tons of responses there. I have seen several people on the fertilty forum have this at 6 wks only to go back the following week to see everything is ok.
I wish you wonderful new at next weeks scan. Try and keep your wife as stress-free as possible (I know, easier said then done!).
hugs and tons of baby dust,
Melissa
I am sorry it took you so long to get a response. A lot of people dont check this board as regularly that is why I suggested you repost it as well on the Pregnancy 18-34 board
I wish I could help exactly but I have not exactly heard of this situation. With that said, its really uncommon to not see a heartbeat at 6 weeks. THat sometimes does not register until 8 weeks.. All over the forums, there are people who have early scans and do not have a heartbeat. There is one lady now who had a scan at 6 weeks (fetal pole was there, not sure about yolk sac) but no heart beat. She went back in at 7weeks, and there was a strong heart beat.
Post this on the PRegnancy 18-34 forum, it is more active.. and you mght get more answers. Early scans can be quite stressful because you dont always see everything and it can make people think the worst..
Your wife should also get her HCG tested, if it is doubling every 48 hours then it is still very viable.
