First Miscarriage...How long does this last?

I am experiencing a miscarriage. Got confirmed blood test 12/01....started spotting around 12/4, went to get new blood test on 12/5 (wont get results back till 12/8). I have started having heavy cramping and passing many clots this morning. Cramps hurt to the point where I cannot lay down which is why I am up so early on a Sunday!
I am bleeding a lot, and worried if I should be going to the ER, or if not, if I should even go to work tomorrow.
How long does this usually last?

I really hope that your pain subcides soon.  Have you decided if you are going to take tomorrow off of work?

I called the nurse line at the hospital (Dr's office closed today). They said that it would be painful, but like Bam said, not to worry unless I am soaking through a pad in an hour. Thanks for everyone's support and thoughts.

I'm sorry for your loss. All they can really do is give you some pain pills and confirm the tissue you are passing is the pg. They will also do bloodwork. I would wait it out it's such a painful thing you are going through so the comforts of your own home may help you get through it. Did you call your dr what did he or she say? I would see if they say to go or not. Def call them though. Take care and you are in my thoughts. I wish you a quick recovery...

My dr said that if the bleeding soaks a pad in less then an hour, then you should definitely go to the ER.  As far as how long the overall m/c will last, that is different for every woman.  I m/c at 8 weeks and the bleeding lasted for 5 days.

I'm very sorry for your loss.
