How long does bleeding normally last when you take misprostol (Cytotek)?

I was 8 weeks pregnant when it was determined that I was facing a miscarriage. After 2 ultrasounds, 2 weeks apart, there was no growth & the sac was only measuring 5 weeks in size. They recommended waiting for my body to naturally expel the tissue, taking Misprostol to speed up the process or having a D&C.  I was terrified. I have a 5 year old daughter from my previous marriage & experienced no complications whatsoever when I was pregnant with her. I am 30 years old & am still shocked that I have gone through this. I chose to take the medication to induce contractions to speed up the process because waiting it out was torture & I was scared of a D&C.  I started bleeding 5 hours after taking the medication and have had clots & bleeding for 6 days now. It's no longer heavy but still present. I am not sure how long the bleeding will last or what is normal. My doctor said I could try again after 1 month or after my first AF so I want this bleeding to stop so my body can heal & then get my AF in a few weeks. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I started to ttc the first af cycle after the first m/c, and the second cycle after the second. My doctor said that we can try right away cause i didn't have an D&C. Misoprostol doesn't stay in your system as soon as you'll have your period everything turns to normal. After the first m/c it took me 7 weeks to get my period and with the second 5 weeks. I couldn;t do any test on the tissue cause i m/c at home and it was too soon to find anything. Take care

I'm sorry that you've had 3 losses. Have you had them test the tissue to determine why they are reoccurring?  And just out of curiosity, how soon after m/c did you try again?  I am getting various answers from nurses when I call the ask about the Misoprostol. I want to know how long it remains in your system.  I think at this point I am just spotting. I thought that yesterday too & suddenly ended up passing 2 huge clots after not passing any for a few days. I'm no longer in pain & only experienced that the day I took the medication. How soon did you get your AF after taking the misoprostol?  Good luck to you if you are TTC'ing again. I hope things work out for you. Thanks for replying. Talking about it really helps me.

I had a natural miscarriage and I bled also for about 7 days, everything passed naturally for me. I am waiting for my 1st perod to arrive which I'm hoping will be next wk :O)

I took Misoprostol 2 times. The first m/c i was 8 weeks same as you. The doctor told me the same either to do D&C or wait for it. I took the pill and i started M/c a couple of hours after taking it. I bleed for 7 days. I think you will bleed until the tissue has passed out. For me the bleeding was ok it was the pain that it was bad. If you bleed for more than 10 days then see your doctor cause probraly not all the tissue has passed. I'm sorry for your loss I have been there 3 times. Take care of you and your spirit. Jenny
