could somebody be pregnant and still have AF?

is it possible to be pregnant even with AF after miscarriage with D&C? I had miscarried and had a d&c done on Dec.20,2010, i bled for almost 2weeks then stopped then i started spotting at Jan.11,2011 and finally had my AF Jan.13,2011. AF was never heavy, it started with spotting then started getting light 3rd day was medium, never had a full pad since the first day of AF. (Still have AF up to now very light though.)

Last night i felt nauseous all of a sudden then had to run to the bathroom to throw up. Also my breast are tender.. and i feel fatigue. I now am thinking could i be pregnant even though i have my period?

The reason why im asking or doubting is because those symptoms are the same symptoms i had on my last pregnancy.. has any one had the same experience?

Please reply! I need your opinion on this... thanks a lot! good luck to all of us! =)

I have PCOS & never know when I ovulate. When I was doing the clomid routine & being monitored it looked like I ovulate late (cd22-24). I never got pg on clomid. Then out of the blue just last summer I found out I was pg when I went to Dr for having bad stomach pains. They did pg test just to make sure b4 they ran other tests to find out what was wrong with me (i had a UTI) & I was all there's no way I could be pg cuz its only cd19, we only had sex once & that was 5 days earlier. But sure enough it came back pg. So my point is start having sex as soon as u stop bleeding & keep it going everywhere day. Cuz u never know. & after a mc u are mote fertile than normal. My OB told me they want u to wait 1 cycle so u & they have a definite cd1 to base next pregnancy on. Good luck.

Just please remember that OPK's are not considered accurate for at least one or two full cycles after a loss.  And a miscarriage..natural or with a D&C can really mess up your cycles for awhile.  However, conceiving right after a miscarriage is certainly not uncommon.  My 1 year old (Yikes, he is 1 tomorrow...I can't believe it!!) was conceived immediately following a loss with no period in between.  I know others here who had the same thing happen.

I also would not count completely on an HPT.  If you suspect, the best thing is to have 2 blood tests a few days apart.  If levels are increasing, it's a new pregnancy.  Decreasing..it's still leftover from your loss.

Oh, sorry, didn't really answer your question... If your AF was really light, you could be pregnant (which would mean it wasn't really AF, lol) but last time I was pregnant I had a "period" which lasted 5 days but was lighter than usual...  So it IS possible.  I would test.  If you're not, then a hpt should be negative by now.

I'm confused, too.  I had my 1st AF after d&c on the 13th, too.  Only lasted 4 days.  I've been checking my cervix since it ended and was "open" on CD 6 and 7 wth??  Isn't it supposed to be open after you Ovulate?  CD 6/7 seems waaayy too early... =/  Took an opk this am (CD 8) and negative.  I'm gonna use opks every day til I get a +, just to see what's going on...

Good luck to you!!!  And i want to reiterate what rccresswell said...your ovulation might be off a bit.  I don't bother with OPK's after a loss as they are not considered reliable according to the manufacturer (I call them all the time with questions..lol).   If you really want to make sure you catch it, try bding every day or other day from about CD11 to CD 20 or so.  Good luck to you!!

goodluck with ttc.  I conceived after one period so it is definately possible.  I used ovulation predictor kits and I am so thankful I did. The reason I say that is because after my first cycle I didn't get a positive opk until day 18.  If I didn't do it I wouldnt have fallen pregnant because I thought that I ovulated on day 12 to 14 so I was a lot off.

I wish you all the best :)

I agree with adgal, it is impossible to have a period and be pregnant but what you could be experiencing is implantation bleeding which could be a light period before you find out you are pregnant.  The thing is you probably wouldn't feel the pregnancy symptons so early but then every women is different.  The reason you could be feeling sick could be that you are pregnant again or that your hormones are all hay wire.  When I miscarried my little boy I fell pregnant after my first cycle and when I was about 4 months pregnant with this pregnancy I was producing colustrum (not sure how you spell it) more so because I think my body was still confused about my miscarriage because I would have been 30 weeks if I didn't miscarry.

I would just take a pregnancy test and check because the hcg should be out of your system now.

It is impossible to get AF while pregnant.  However, some women will experience period like bleeding during a pregnancy.  It does sound more like your regular period, and that your horomones are still adjusting.  This is not uncommon after a loss.  Try a pregnancy test, or see your Dr. for bloodwork.  good luck.
