Loss at 16 weeks

Can anyone offer any help?  I lost my baby at 16 weeks.  Never knew what happened.  Was able to deliver the baby after being induced and then had a D & C.  Anyone else that went through a similar experience please share and how long did it take to conceive again?  I also have PCOS as well.  Thanks for any input!

Just to let you all know- we did do chromosome studies and they were normal.  Also, no signs of infection.  We actually have been TTC since about May.  I do have other children as well.  Since reading this forum, I have started taking baby aspirin.  I'm already on progesterone as well.  Hopefully, soon I can join the TWW with others!

I'm very sorry for your loss.  I m/c at 9 weeks (and from the first u/s at 8 weeks knew there was little hope).  I can't imagine how painful it must be in your case.  Take strength in the knowledge that everything happens for a reason.

It took DH and I ttc for 2 years before the m/c.  We are now in the 2nd month of ttc after the m/c.  It is very scary to think about if it will happen again.  When I first m/c, I was devastated and didn't think that I would be ready to ttc again so soon.  But time helps to heal the wounds.  When you are ready to TTC, there are alot of girls on this forum all tracking our cycles and you are welcome to join us.

If you don't feel as if you are getting enough answers from your ob/gyn, then you might want to think about seeing an RE.

Just as a side note for the girls with PCOS - if you ever watch Jon and Kate + 8 on TLC, Kate has PCOS, got IUI both pg's (from my understanding) and that's how she ended up so lucky!!

peterjl- i am so sorry for your loss.  i had 2 MC's in 5 months but not as far along as yours.  by any odd chance, did the doctor agree to do testing on the baby to see if it was a chromosome disorder, which are very common and usuall happen earlier on but sometimes they still can happen later?

i would keep trying.  with both my MC's i had d and c's.  after the first, i got pregnant fast but had another MC.  then after my 2nd MC, i went to see an RE and he did all the testing, everything was normal.  i saw the RE from April 08-May 08, by June 11th, i found out i was pregnant again.  i did use baby aspriin and progesterone supps this time around for the forst 13 weeks.  I am 23 weeks tomorrow now.

Don;t give up.  i would suggest talking to your doctor about the glucophage because i have heard it has helped many women with PCOS.

On having ultrasounds, I had two- one at 8 weeks and another at 12weeks.  Both showed a healthy baby.  I was receiving progesterone injections 2x weekly as well.  I went in for my 16 week check up and they were unable to find a heartbeat.  We've been TTC since and no luck yet.  I think we'll being trying clomid soon.  Thanks for the advice!

I've gone through the same thing as you (3 times).  I also was diagnosed with having PCOS but not till my third miscarriage.  I was told by my doctor that inorder for me to conceive I would need to take glucophage to balance my insulin levels.  I did some research  on other women who have taken this medication and successfully conceived and the numbers were high (it didn't happen over night though).  I took the medication (made me so sick) and became pregnant but I ended up having a ruptured tubal pregnancy.  I don't know how much research you did on PCOS but on thing that it causes it repeated miscarriages.  Maybe you can talk to your doctor about being put on glucophage to help (I wasn't successful with but as I said others were). I do plan on trying again but I have to get my nerves up to it (it's not easy to know that you have a child growing inside of you and all of a sudden you lose it).  Don't give up.

I am so sorry.  I lost mine at 14 and a half.  I actually had an ultrasound done that showed there was no way the baby would make it, so i had to have an abortion or I could have carried for alot longer and we wanted to TTC again as soon as possible.  Did you have any ultrasounds done before that that showed what was going on with your baby?    We are currentley in our 5th month of TTC again, and i am just starting to take the preg tests.  i am so sorry and can say the loss is still with me, and TTC isnt easy.  It is so scarey that something might happen again, but I feel that if we keep praying something good will happen eventually!  Good luck, and i I know how hard it is :(
