Just a question

I had a miscarriage on Oct 3, this would be my second one (two years ago almost to the day was my first) I havent had a period yet and its been over 3 weeks. my doctor said it would come within two weeks. i have had intercourse and am wondering, do women really ovulate quicker after a miscarriage?

Yes, hcgs went all the way down. it was natural. this is my second one, i have figure...i ll probably never try to get pregnant in Sept...cause October seems to be a rough month. I have to agree, it is overwhelming and confusing...and down right, frustrating!! i did have some light spotting that lasted maybe an hour, just a little that required a liner(tmi?)

Has your hcg gone back to 0?  It would have to be back down to 0 before your'd ovulate.  I have heard of women getting pregnant after a m/c and before they ever have a period.

I've read people say you are more fertile after m/c and I've read the opposite.  who knows??  I've also read that your more likely to m/c again if you get pregnant before you have a normal cycle and I've read that you're not.  Like I said, who knows.  There is so much info out there it can become overwhelming and confusing.  I just had a m/c last week and my doc told me to wait until I have one normal cycle, so I'm going to do that just to be safe.

For me it also tends to take about 5 weeks for my period to return, so that means I am probably ovulating about 3 weeks after my levels return to 0.  The length of time can depend on how far along you are.  Did you require a D&C?

With my 5th miscarriage, I did conceive immediately following, before my period returned, and ironically that pregnancy is the only one that went full term.  He is almost 2 now.  Most Dr's don't put any stock in the theory that you are more fertile or ovulate more quickly after a loss, but who knows?  If you do suspect another pregnancy, don't bother with a home pregnancy test as even if it's positive, it may be picking up hcg from your loss.  See your Dr. and two blood tests performed a few days apart will let you know if that is in fact the case.

I'm sorry for your loss, and wish you all the best.

I have had 4 miscarriages and after each one, it took about 4-5 weeks to get my period. Although, it is very possible to ovulate and become pregnant again after a m/c. Some say you are even more fertile. Were your levels followed back down?
