Missed Miscarriage?

I'm almost 10 weeks pregnant but the fetus is measuring only 6 weeks - is there any hope for viable pregnancy?
The first day of my last menstrual period was January 9th. I usually only bleed for three or four days. I think I ovulated and conceived somewhere between January 20th and 22nd. I took a pregnancy test on February 7th and it was positive. I should be almost ten weeks pregnant, but when I went in for my first transvaginal ultrasound yesterday the fetus was measuring only six weeks and a day, and they could not detect a heartbeat. They told me to come back in a week for a follow up ultrasound. My question is whether there is any way that this could still be a healthy pregnancy, or will I definitely miscarry? My OB sounded like she didn't think there was much hope but she refused to say for sure. Thanks in advance.

My cousin is pregnant 4 months, when she was 7 weeks pregnant, fetus was measuring only 6 weeks and dr couldn't hear the heartbeat of the baby. One week later she went to dr again and then everything was normal, there is heartbeat and baby is growing very well now.

I hope yours one will be the same, good luck, all the best...

I'm sorry to hear of your situation.  I went through a similar process and I did have a missed m/c....I had a tv u/s at 8 weeks and baby measured 7 weeks and no heartbeat...I still went on another week with no m/c symptoms and ended up opting for the d&c.......  Good luck and if you need to talk...let me know...I just went through this in February......take care

I'm sorry for your loss. I have not experienced this exact situation but I had my last m/c in sept of last yr and I had low rising numbers and was told everything was fine to end up losing my baby 3 days later. I hope that somehow your dates were wrong etc. Does your dr say? Best wishes to you. I'll be thinking about you and I hope that it all works out for you. Good luck and I'm always here for you!

Hugs,
AP

I'm sorry for what you are going through.  I also at 10 weeks was measuring 5 weeks, and I had to wait 3 weeks for a follow up u/s, only to find no growth.  I know that the waiting is excrutiating, and there is nothing that can make it easier.  Once in a while a woman is off on her dates, and is not as far along as she thinks.  I wish I could offer you some hope, but since you are sure of when you got the positive test, it is unlikely that is the issue in your case.  All you can do is wait for the next u/s and see what has happened with the fetus.  There are many women on here who have been in your shoes and are a wonderful source of support.  I wish you the best of luck with your next u/s, and I hope you get some good news.

I am so sorry you are going through this...I too had a pregnancy which measured incorrectly.  The baby did not ultimately make it.  The waiting was by far the worst part.  I hope you will have peace in the next week.  Take time for yourself.  xoxo.
