Porgesterone used after two missed miscarriages

I am 23 years old and my husband and I have been through two missed miscarriages in the past two years. One was in 08'. The babys heartbeat was never measurable and found out at 8 weeks the baby was non-viable. January of this year we were soo excited to find out we were expecting again. This time the babys heartbeat was detected at 6 weeks but was on the low side (87bpm). The doctor told me to come back in at 9 weeks for another U/S to make sure the heartbeat was where it needed to be. Well sadly there was no heartbeat found at this u/s. We were devistated and mostly angry that this has happened to us. Its been four weeks since the d&c proceedure and yesterday was my first OB appointment since. She took the tissue from the d&c to have chromosmal testing done on it to make sure the baby was healthy. She said there was a chance it was a girl, but the tests results said it could have been a little of my tissue so it wasnt confirmed. She said unless they send an XY confirmation then we would know, but not sure if thats gunna happen?!?! She said the tests came back normal, which is a good and confusing answer. Good cuz at least the baby was healthy, but bad b/c we have no idea whats causing these to be happening. Im a healthy young women and my husband is a healthy young man. She also said usually they dont do the battery of tests like genetic, hormonal, 3d sonogram, and blood clotting disorder...until I've have three miscarriages, but she said she would be more than happy to order any if we wanted. At this point after surgery we are in ebt of 3,000 from surgery and the tests even after insurance coverage...so I'd like to pay that off until we do any testing, She also said if that was too ahrd emotionally to go through with she would start giving my PROGESTRONE when we start trying again. She will be giving it to me until the tenth week to give me an "extra boost," as she put it. I have questioned if this may be the factor b/c right after conception like a few days I start spotting and this has only happened with the pregnancies...not menstration. I spotted throughout both pregnancies..non stop. I am curious has anyone been in this situation and have the progesterone actually help????

Progesterone can help however it will not prevent a miscarriage if it is going to happen.  It can only help if the pregnancy is failing due to your body not producing enough in order to sustain the pregnancy.  My last two miscarriages I was on prometrium 100 mg 3 x's a day.  My P4 levels were up in the 30's and I still miscarried.  The prometrium helped prolong the miscarriage however due to something else (unknown still) going on I had my 8th miscarriage.   At 4 weeks my HCG level was 177 and P4 was 37 everything looked great but I started to spot and soon miscarried.   So everyone please don't think that if you take progesterone it will keep you from having a miscarriage.

A few studies have found evidence that taking progesterone supplements might benefit women who have had recurrent miscarriages, but right now the numbers are too small to say whether or not the findings are significant

Please have your doctor run test in order to determine hormone imbalances and when you do get pregnant ask for a Quantitative beta with the progesterone testing your P4 levels.

I know how you feel, your second M/C was what happened to me 2 years ago. I am pregnant again at 5wks 4 days progesterrone was 6, no bleeding so far 6wks and 4 days now and hcg has doubled and progesterone at 16  us next week. So if you start progesterone maybe it will hold. Good luck
