Dark Brown Mucus spotting??

I am in week 7 and I have had occasional dark brown (mostly, with some red spots earlier but not now) spotting after wiping after using the bathroom. This has lasted about ten days or so. A week ago the ultrasound was fine with a strong heart, but they said it was too early to judge much.I have moderate morning sickness, so that is a good sign. I have an appointment with doc soon to discuss it, but should I be worried? Can it be blood or is it just mucous?

Definitely can be completely normal.  I spotted for almost three weeks in early pg (from 5 1/2 wks almost to 8 wks with my son).  Mine was light pink then turned brown and mucousy.  My first u/s was at only 6 weeks because of it, and there was already a strong hb (which is really unusual for so early on, and I suppose a good sign, since my son is 20 months old now).  Anyhow, my OB said it was likely implantation blood, and it takes a while to work its way out, and that's why it turns brown - gets old on the way out, if that makes sense.  I, too, had moderate sickness until week 9.  Then, look out - sick as could be for a month 1/2 after that!  Everyone's different, though.  I agree with AP -cramping is normal, unless it's severe.  If severe, call your doctor.  If tolerable and menstrual like - should be fine.  Best of luck to you, and I can't wait to hear progress reports!

Bleeding and spotting are very common early on in pg. If you ahd a vag u/s the spotting may be left over trom that or it could be from intercourse. We are very vascular when pg and the slightest thing can cause us to spot or bleed. If severe and very painful cramping occurs I would call your dr right away and get checked out. Cramping is normal as long as it is not severe. I think it may just be leftover blood it may be from the implantation. I wouldn't worry but def mention it to your dr. Congrats on your pg. Keep your chin up. Let me know what happens at your next app.....
