Sex after miscarriage

My husband and I recently suffered our 2nd miscarriage a little over 3 weeks ago. I have been told that a woman typically bleeds for 2 weeks but can last up to 4 weeks. My 1st miscarriage lasted about 2 and this one I think might go on to 4 :( Anyway since my doctor never told me anything about not being able to have sex I'm not really sure what to think. The bleeding seemed to have stopped (after a little over 2 weeks of bleeding) so my husband and I thought it was OK to engage in sexual activity but SURPRISE! the bleeding just came back again. I have no pains, no clotting, nothing that would really alarm me just that I'm close to my 4 week mark and the blood (though light) is red and doesn't seem like it will be going away soon. Could the sex have made it worse? should I be really concerned?

how many weeks afterwards did you get your period? Was it somewhat light?
If it is my period which for some reason I'm thinking it might be, it is a lot lighter than my usual period, red but light.

Sometimes bleeding after a loss stops and starts a few times.  It could also be your cycle.  I ovulated very quickly after my last loss, and actually got pregnant with my now 10 month old son right away...before a regular cycle.

If you are not uncomfortable don't worry too much about it. Go with what feels right to you.  If concerned, give your Dr. a call, but unless you are showing signs of infection (bad smell, fever or chills, etc.) I am fairly confident it's not a problem.  Good luck to you.

Dr told me ok to have sex if I was comfortable but to make sure I had some form of contraception to prevent pregnancy until I've had one cycle. You could be bleeding cuz your vagina is "extra sensitive" right now & blood vessels are bursting. Probably wise to refrain from sex until bleeding stops to keep from getting an infection.  Or perhaps if you're close to your 4 week mark it could be your 1st period post mc. I'm really Sorry about your loss.
