Taking progesterone without prescription

Im 7 Weeks pregnant. I had one miscarriage and one ectopic about 18 months ago. My sister in law is also pregnant and was given progesterone (the vaginal one) and has extras. She told me I should take them to prevent miscarrying again. She even asked he doctor friend if it was safe for me to and the doctor said yes. But im a little nervous. What if this does more damage then good? I need advice. Ill see my doctor for the first time in a week and a 1/2, so what if I take them until I see the doctor? Help please

Although i dont suggest taking medicine that you are not perscribed, progesterone isnt going to harm you or the baby. Talk to your dr if you are concerned. Usually with a history like yours they will be pretty willing to perscribe it. I used it to get through my first trimester and its the only time i've ever made it through the first trimester. Good luck and talk to your doctor

Ur sister in law was prescribed progesterone because she must need it, if you take it and don't need it then it could cause more harm than good. I know how stressful it can be but the best thing you can do until you see your doctor is think positively, eat well and exercise. Best of Luck

I wouldn't take them unless your doctor prescribed them to you. Theres no reason to think this pregnancy won't be successful (even with your history) and if you take them and don't need them and something happens then you might blame yourself. Definitely speak to your doctor before taking any medication
