Why would I have 2 miscarriages in a row?

I am 38 years old and just had my 2nd miscarriage. In fact, I haven't even had it yet. I went to the doctor 2 days ago to hear the baby's heartbeat. I was suppose to be 12 weeks pregnant. The doctor could not find a heart beat. The ultrasound showed the baby died at 6 weeks 4 days. I am devastated. I either have to wait for nature to take its course and my body to expel the pregnancy or I have to have a DNC. I had another miscarriage 6 months ago. That one happened right away, at 4 1/2 weeks. I do have one healthy daughter. I got pregnant with her when I was 35 and gave birth at 36. I can't help but wonder are my eggs to old now? I'm not sure. I really would like just one more child so my daughter will have a sibling but I'm afraid I'm never going to be able to have a baby again or that something will be wrong with the baby.

i know how you feel, i had a boy the first time we tried to get pregnant without any complications whatsoever, i was 32 , i am now 36 years old and had three miscarriages in a row since january, not sure what's going on , i've had a vaginal infection for the past four months that just won't go away (i've had strond amonia discharges) despite three diferent treatments, not sure if this is the cause, now i'm afraid to try again. anybody has had this amonia smelly discharge ?

Well said.  I completely agree.  Times are so much different than when our parents were young.  Getting married at 20 and first baby by 22 was the norm.  Now it seems almost the opposite.

I too am wondering if you have any updates. It seems as though we spend out 20's not trying to get pregnant, wanting our careers to flourish and achieving our dreams and our 30's wondering what in the world is going on?

Lisa9267,  just wondering if you have an update that you would like to share with us?  I wanted to pitch in my two cents and say to definitely keep trying :)  You age may make things a little more of a challenge but not impossible by any means.

I just wanted to say a heartfelt "Thank You" to all of you. You are all so sweet and supportive and it helps to hear all of the different stories. Thank you for taking the time to respond to me. For me personally, I don't want to be raising children in my 60's so I am only going to try for the rest of this year. If I don't get a good connection by then, I will have to move on. I am praying that does not happen but I can't even start trying because this baby that's in me now hasn't decided to come out yet. My doctor is going to have my HCG levels tested again next Tuesday. If they are not decreasing fast enough, he will schedule the DNC. I hope the baby passes before then.
