Could I be pregnant so soon after a miscarriage?

On June 10th I miscarried at about 9 weeks.  I have had unprotected sex a few times since then. I have had slight cramping for a few weeks without any sign of a period. I am wondering if I could be pregnant again but I do not want to take a test and have it come out as a false positive because of my last pregnancy. Could I still get a false positive at this point? And could i be pregnant again?

If you had a d&c then most likely they did get everything out ok so that shouldn't be causing your cramping. If your levels were only 8 in mid-June then they probably came all the way down because that is a really low number. I know my numbers got as high as 4900 before I had my miscarriage. Most doctors only say you have to wait a week or two to have sex and some doctors tell you not to get pregnant before you have your first period after a miscarriage while others tell their patients to try right away because you are more fertile after a miscarriage. My doctor didn't say either way on trying to get pregnant again and for having sex he told me to just wait a week. Are you going in soon to see if your numbers are going up? Good luck.

It was probably sometime in mid june when I went for blood work and my last one they said was at 8? I am not completely sure what that means. Is that like... how they say that some pregnancy test can detect hcg as low as 5?

I had a D&C on June 10th. I went to the doctor on July 7th and he didnt really do much. He felt my uterus and asked if I had any questions but that was about it. They did some blood test afterwards to make sure that my levels were going down, and they were, but this was also before the day that i suspect that I was ovulating. (About two weeks after the bleeding stopped I had cramping on my left side.) I was told not to have sex at all until I saw the doctor, and although I waited  a little bit of time, until I felt healthier, I did not wait the full month so I am kind of afraid to tell them that I did. I asked for them to do one more blood test so check my levels so I guess when I do that they will call me if it appears that my levels have gone up right?

Yes you could be pregnant again or your cycle could be messed up from the m/c. I had a d&c June 10th and I still haven't gotten my first period yet. Did you have a d&c or did you miscarry naturally? Did your doctor do a checkup afterward to make sure everything was ok? I ask these questions because if they didn't do a checkup, you may want to make an appointment so they can make sure the cramping is not caused by some tissue being left behind or an infection. The cramping could still be nothing, but it doesn't hurt to make sure. If you really think you might be pregnant, you could take a hpt. If it is positive you could schedule a series of blood tests to see if your numbers are going up. Good luck.

it depends on how fast your hcg levels fall and what kind of miscarriage you had i would talk to your doctor about both this things and what your chances are of being pregnant again before you take a pregnancy test

HI, I guess you could be pregnant again. The risk of misscarriage is the same as when you were pregnant the first time. I would take the test myself. I can understand your worry. I had three miscarriages and understand how distressing and confusing it is. I think your HCG levels should have gone down. You may have to go and have a blood test ! Did you ahve a D&C after the misscariagethis can delay any normal period bleeding sometimes as they scrape the lining. Hope this helps and good luck hope it all turns out for you.
