any advice re possible miscarriage

I began getting brown discharge around two weeks ago which lasted for 2 days, then I got abdominal/menstrual cramps and had my period for 5 or 6 days. But the flow was lighter than usual. There was no bleeding for 2 days after that but on the third day i started bleeding very heavily and a long blood clot resembling a liver came out. I had severe abdominal pain and felt light headed. The heavy bleeding lasted a couple of hours and since then I have had a light to moderate flow with occasional blood clots roughly the size of a large coin. In general I feel slightly weak and unwell but I have not experienced any more abdominal pain. My blood pressure is normal so I am not losing a lot of blood. I have an appointment for a blood test next week. Is there any way this could have been a miscarriage? I took a pregnancy test but the results were unclear. The negative line was very clear but there was a faint positive line. I have a doctor's appointment next week but in the meantime if anyone has any ideas i'd appreciate it as I am getting worried as to what's going on. Thanx

Sorry to hear about what you went through and thanks so much for replying.
I would say about 5, maybe 6 weeks. I don't think my pain is as bad as either of yours. It's like extreme menstrual cramps which have been constant for the last couple of days if that makes sense. I also get bad menstrual cramps so I am not finding the pain unbearable but I do have little energy and feel kinda depressed. Do you think it's ok to wait til monday for the doctor? As it's the weekend I would have to go to a different doctor now and I'd rather wait for my own.

How far along would you say you are, I have had several miscarriages, the last of whic was september 2007, where i literally passed the sac and placenta, i suffered severe period like cramps, and i get bad period anyway! I would say that it is a possible miscarriage as the test still proved positive, the will still be hcg hormone in your blood for a good week or so, you would have to have an ultrasound and two or three blood tests to see if hcg dropping, I am so sorry to be bearer of bad news

With the bleeding/blood clots, I had similar experiences before{but unrelated to the cause of} my miscarriage.  The only thing is I didn't have any cramps that went along with those times; the only time I had cramps was when I was actually miscarrying, and those were by far the worst pain I've felt in my life...
but the bleeding/spotting I had in the earlier incidents had to do with a blood clot/hemmorage that I had at the site of implantation...
I hoping for the best for you :)

my first miscarriage was at 6 weeks and was almost identical to your report only difference was i didnt have any break from the bleeding ... the doc tered it a chemical pregnancy as no products of conception came out so i dont really classify it as a miscarriage on my medical records  ... things were practically normal when i went to the doc the next day .. good luck to u ill pray for u
