Miscarriage or mistake?

Two weeks ago my husband and I found out we were pregnant. We went to the doctor and they did a test that came back positive and told me my due date would be December 27. We were thrilled. Last night after using the rest room I went to clean myself up and I noticed light pink spotting. After calling my mother she told me to go to the E.R. just to be safe. The doctor did a pee test and told me the results were negative but that he knew it was because my pee was so diluted, he said it damn near looked like water and that he wasnt surprised it came back negative. He also drew blood and while my levels were lower then they would be at six weeks if we were going by the date of my last period. He checked my cervix. Completely closed up, no blood, nothing. They ordered a vaginal ultrasound but they werent able to find anything. The doctor told me that his theory was that I had had a complete early miscarriage. And that the spotting that I had experienced was the last remaining cells my body was expelling and that I had probably miscarried days or even a week early. I was confused that I would even have ANY hcg hormones in my system since everything I've read and heard has told me that that early on it should only take a couple of days for it to go all the way down to zero. I haven't have any cramping, I haven't passed any clots and I still have my pregnancy symptoms. All I want to eat is broccoli, I can't stand even the thought of some foods and my boobs hurt like a son of a *****. I took a pregnancy test tonight and it came back positive. My book 'What to expect when you're expecting' even said that some times ultrasounds come back wrong because the fetus isnt developed enough or the equipment isn't sophisticated enough. I don't know what to think and I don't want to have false hope. I just want to know what is going on. Do any of you have any thoughts? Also, the fact that the doctor used the term 'theory' when telling me I had a miscarriage does not sit well with me. His "theory" is that I miscarried. Ugh I don't know what to think! Help please!

It sounds like you need a second opinion. Emergency rooms are often wrong. Good Luck

If the vaginal u/s isnt showing anything then I would want a blood draw. Have them check your HCG levels, draw blood again 48 hours apart and see what the HCG level is then. If your levels are going up then your body is growing a baby, if your levels are super low and or dropping then maybe the Dr. theory was right? When you bleed was it heavy, did you have cramping, pass a lot of tissue?

Hello, I thought I was as far Along as you and went for a private scan last night. They said sometimes pregnacies this early on don't show on sonograms.
I have spent a rather unhealthy day on the net researching miscarriage and I think a small amount of blood can be a normal thing to happen or can mean miscarriage.

If I have learned anything today, it is that everyone is different, In pregnancy and miscarriage, and that a good doctor is key to your mental and physical wellbeing!

I hope you get answers soon...this limbo feeling is not fun!
