Thank you both so much, i appreciate both opinions. My hcg levels were normal 4 days after the miscarriage, and just the day after the bleeding stopped so fingers crossed ill get pregnant again straight away. Thanks again ladies :)

yep I was hanging out the washing and thinking just that :) gee two doctors in the same practice can have differing views so unless there is a medical reason, I would say just go with how your feeling both physically and emotionally :)

Sorry my friend, I still disagree, but that's ok.  We can't agree on everything..lol.  And we both know that even all Dr.s don't give the same advice.  Some say wait one cycle, some say 3, others say go for it right away.  It doesn't really matter anyway.

In any event, yes, most of the time it is fine to try again right away. In fact, my 2 year old was conceived immediately following a loss..no cycle in between.  My OB used to always tell me to wait one full cycle.  I finally questioned her on it, and she said it's because it is easier for dating purposes.  Well, we have u/s for that.  Try not to let fear get in your way...it is likely this pregnancy will develop just fine!!

so if your doctor said it was safe for you to start trying straight away then he is also counting the first day of your miscarriage as the first day of your cycle, normally when you miscarry naturally, as well as passing the products you also shed your lining as being pregnant was the only thing that was keeping your lining in, so when hcg levels drop, the miscarriage takes place and you shed your lining as well, then it slowly builds back up and you have your next period, when you have a d&c they remove the products and most of your lining, so alot of the time after a d&c there is minimal to little bleeding as most of the lining has been scraped off, both my normal doctor and the professor that I saw told me to count the first day of my miscarriage as the first day of my cycle, with my last miscarriage I ovulated on day 16 as my levels had dropped 4 days after I finished bleeding, the time it takes for your period to return depends on how quickly your hcg levels come down, if they're dropping slowly then it will take  longer for your next cycle to return

Stacy, I love you to bits, but have to disagree..sorry hon.  According to my Dr, miscarriage bleeding is not considered a cycle.  This is because it is not actual shedding of lining, but passing the products of conception.  So it is your next bleed that would be considered your first menstrual cycle.  As to when, it differs for everyone.  I have had it as early as 3 weeks later, and as late as 5.  I'm sorry for your loss, and wish you peace and healing.

If your miscarriage was natural you count the first day of your miscarriage as the first day of your cycle, so when your period comes depends on how quickly your hcg levels drop to under 10, once it does that you will ovulate and either get pregnant or have your period
