miscarriage??

Hello all. I am 30 years old and me and my husband found out we were expecting last Tuesday. I went to the Dr and they did an hcg test and confirmed I was pregnant. Last night I started spotting brown blood and had some mild cramping. I went to my obgyn today and he did a internal ultrasound to check on the baby. Problem is he saw nothing. There was a small blurb on the screen he said could be a sac but it is smaller than should be at this point in a pregnancy. He sent me to get blood work again to compare hcg levels but felt positive it was a miscarriage. Could he be wrong? Is it possible he just couldn't locate the sac because of how early I am in the pregnancy? Or could it have been twins and I lost one and the blurb he saw was the other one and it was just small because it had been twins? Am I just trying to grasp at hope? This is my second pregnancy, my first one was 14 years ago and everything went normal. My husband and I really want a baby together.

Hello I am going through something similar.  This is my fourth pregnancy.  I got pregnant this time after removal of the MIrena IUD.  Because of my medical history, and the fact that I have had two second trimester losses last year, my doctor sent me for early ultrasound.  At what was supposed to be my 6 week ultrasound the technician was not able to detect anything significant.  I came back for a follow up and they reported that the sac and baby were not growing well and could not find a heart beat.  I did blood work for my levels, which surprisingly have been rising, and another ultrasound this past Friday to find out what was going on.  Again the technician said there was no growth since last weeks ultrasound and no heartbeat.  I am devastated that Im going through this again.  I have not seen my doctor yet, but I already know that he's going to tell me the baby didn't make it, and will most likely want me to have a d&c.  I have asked him to refer me to a fertility specialist to test my blood and other things to see if there is some sort of issue with me or my husband which is causing all these losses.  I have had one healthy pregnancy 5 years ago from a previous relationship, but so far all the pregnancies I've had with my husband have ended in  loss.  I feel cursed.

So Dr called today and said my levels had risen, they werent as high as they should be if they were doubling every 48 hours, they were about 100 below. He said there is a very slim possibility that I am still pregnant and the pregnancy will continue fine, but he believes that we will see my levels drop soon.  I go back on Monday for another round of tests. Has anyone been through a similar situation? What was your outcome?
