Im sorry for your loss. It's normal to wait 3 cycles for everything including b/c. By then your body is back to normal. Usually. Your dr probably wants to make sure your cycle is regulated before you start taking b/c. It can have long term affects if not taken correctly and if your are having irregular cycles due to your m/c that wouldn't be good. If you are concerned about getting pg you can keep track of ovulation and not bd during Oing or have your hubby wear a condom. I would listen to your dr they usually know what they are talking about at least mine does. I know it's overwhelming and very painful but it you take precautions you should be okay. Best wishes to you and I hope everything works out for the best. Let me know what happens....
Hugs,
AP
Sorry for your losses, this is a wonderful site with many supportive women.
The only thing i can come up with as to why he wanted you to wait is that b/c pills have hormones in it that affects you endocrine system. After having a m/c your hormones are all over the place and takes time to get back on track. I dont think you want to really start taking the pills until you had your first cycle.
If you no for a fact you dont want to ttc again for a while then go back to him to get some b/c pills, but i would at least wait until after the your first cycle, when you think about it, that is like 2 months.
Keep us posted on your status
I just read your other post and I'm so sorry for your losses. It helps so much to have such a wonderful support group like all of these women. I was on NuvaRing when I got pregnant this past time and when I m/c'd at 9w3d they couldn't rule out that it was from the b/c. I know when I finally get my BFP I will get try the IUD's first. I don't know why he would want you to wait though. I didn't ask my dr. for anything because I started ttc immediatly after my m/c.
My Dr didn't want me to start bc either... She wanted to give my body a chance to regulate itself before messing with my hormones again. She also said it takes a month for the pills to be effective and if I decide I want to ttc then it could take a while after stopping the pills for my body to regulate again. She told me to keep taking the pre-natals as well because other forms of bc aren't as effective and that way I'd be covered just in case. I hope you are feeling better though and good luck!
I am not sure about the 2-3 months thing, but what if you do decide to ttc earlier and then you would have to wait another month at least before the bc gets out of your system. Maybe you can try another method of protection after a few weeks of grieving.
