How can I tell?

Hello All..I'm hoping someone can clear this up for me.  I have always been very regular with my periods and they have been pretty uneventful as far as cramping goes.  In January, about a week after having sex I started having this pinkish discharge which happened almost every day a few times a day, this never happened before.  Two weeks after that I started feeling nauseous and my body just felt weird..can't explain it, i guess we all can tell when something's off.  I started researching online and it all looked like pregnancy symptoms, but because I was still a week away from my period, I decided to wait before I took a test.  I was 2 days behind when I decided I would buy the test the following day.  That night I had sex again and the very next morning when I woke up and went to the bathroom a big blob of blood just came out.  Soon after that I took the test just to make sure and it tested negative.   I'm not sure why I'm obsessing about it but somehow I feel that I was pregnant and I caused a miscarriage by having sex.  Since then now I feel nauseous at about the time I should be ovulating and my periods are crampy.  I'm 34 and have been trying to get pregnant for a while and was really at a point where I just came to believe I just couldn't have kids, after testing and checking and nothing being wrong with me.  This whole thing has somehow given me hope. Is it possible that I caused a miscarriage and is there any way to tell if it was a miscarriage or if you've been pregnant before??  Sorry for the long post.  I will greatly appreciate your answers.

Jackie

Hello, sorry to hear about what happened. Its hard to say whether it was a m/c or not because some people can have a m/c and never even know they were pregnant to begin with. I strongly doubt that if that is what happened, it was caused by you having sex. Since you have been trying to concieve for so long, I would suggest that you see a fertility specialist. Good luck!!! Keep us posted...

yes i shouldnt imagine having sex caused the m/c if that is what you had.  however a lot of women dont even realise they have had a m/c.  i wouldnt have realised i had mine if i hadnt have found out so early on that i was pregnant, i would have just thought i was a few days late.  the thing is, when you start to bleed, your hcg levels drop, for some women they take longer to drop than others.  my dropped dramatically over-night, almost hit 0 with-in 24hrs, so if you were pregnant depending on what the level of hcg was (im guessing with it being so early they would be quite low) when you started to bleed, they would have started dropping too.  and if they were low to start with, it would show a negative on the pregnancy test even if you had of been pregnant.  i think the further along during pregnancy you are, the longer it takes for your levels to drop.  keep trying, im sure i speak for everyone on here when i say ill keep my fingers crossed for you x

Hi thanks so much for responding.  I've been ttc since 2001.  In 2002 I went to get an u/s and they unclogged my tubes but overall everything seemed fine.  I took an over the counter pg test when this whole thing came about.  I have yet to get pg and I'm pretty sure I have not had an m/c because I have never been late with my period except for this time.  I will definitely see a dr.  Thank You.

There is really no way of knowing you were pg unless getting a pos hpt or a pos blood test. You may have what they call a chemical pg. What kinds of testing have you had? Are you seeing a reproductive specialist etc? How long have you been ttc and have you had a confirmed m/c in the past.? Sorry for all the questions but I can't really give you my advice until I know alittle more. I would def follow up with your dr and talk to them and see wthat they say. I would ask them to take your blood and to have a u/s done to make sure everything is ok. Best wishes to you. If you want you can leave me a message. I look forward to hearing from you....I hope you feel better soon.
