threatened miscarriage

Just looking for help answers....anything really..... I went to my first OB appointment last Thursday. By my LMP I was 8w2d however an ultrasound showed that the baby was measuring 6w2d and the heart beat was slow at 87. The OB said that I should come back Wednesday and do a recheck to see if my dates were off or if this was going to be a non viable pregancy. Monday I woke up with some spotting and went to the ER. There I received a diagnosis of "threatened miscarriage" as my ultrasound showed that my baby was still in utero and a heart rate of 92. I am still bleeding, but havent passed any tissues or big clots.......
My appointment is at 1:45 today...

Has anyone had any experience with this....how did it turn out..... please let me know your thoughts. I'm very anxious about today.

Threatened miscarriage is a term most Dr.'s use when there is any bleeding or spotting at all.  So try not to think of that word, it's scary and doesn't really mean much.

I have seen this situation go both ways.  In all honesty, the biggest concern is not the spotting, it's that you are measuring 2 weeks behind.  There is typically a margin of error a week either way.  Anything more then that is of concern.  This of course is if you are aboslutely certain of your dates.  Is it possible you are off by a week or two?

Bleeding happens in about 30% of pregnant women in first trimester.  About half of those will go on to have normal healthy pregnancies.

Yes, the heartrate is a bit slow, but again, that is one of those things that can go either way, and I have seen it go both ways.

Right now you are in that horrid "wait and see" time.  It is so stressful, I have been there myself.  I would be hopeful, but prepared if that makes any sense.  I would say this is a 50/50 situation.

Good luck today, I really hope this goes well.  Take good care.
