Hello and thanks for reading my post.
I was in a major vehicle accident 5 yrs ago that caused a lot of injuies--several surgeries on my leg and a knee that was crushed. I have lots of pain...have learned to live with it. I am waiting for a full knee replacement. (they built it up the best htey could.) We are holding off on the replacement for as long a spossible /dt my age (40) Anyway--I have had alot of strange symptoms..and have always blamed them on the accident. I am not so sure these days. I wnet a month ago to my orhto with severe pain in my leg that was not mangable at all. I had thought my knee was ready for the replacment. He said it was holding up ok--not good , but it was not causing my symptoms. He called in the spiune specialist as he said that I had severe nerve damage in the leg that he had never seen before. I even had foot drop. Again, I always thought this was from the accident. It had been getting worse, but I had no idea it wa as bad it was. I also have had a lot of back pain...and pain in my left arm- with muscle weakness. I also have disc injury in my neck from the accident. The doctors thought i surely had a complelty pinched off nerve in my back and ordered and mri that day. Thne mri showed some narrowing..but they both said that the MRI did not at all explain my nerve mpain and symptoms. They recommended I go to a neurologist. They put me on lyrica..and sent me on my way....I called a few days after starting the lyrica..my leg had become like a bowl of jello. I wobble dwith each step. THey made the neuro appointment for me that day. I stopped taking the lyrica because of the jello feeling. However--if I am busy ( andf that is alot..i have 7 children) my legs acts up and wobbles. My left arm has become extremely weak with any use.
The other symptoms I have had that up until now have either blamed on the accident or ignored..are - extreme fatigue- nothing helps its.
foot numbness
dropping thiings- esp with my left arm--I even broke the top of our glass top stove. Was cleaning our mix master, and thoguht I had a good hold of it--it slipped .
I often have to reach for things to pick up for instance from the floor several times before I actually am able to grab hold of it.
I have bladder issues--which could be from having all of my kids..had a hystercetomy 2 yrs ago and they did bladder tesitng on me. They were sure that I needed a hammock repair..Nope, just loss of muscle control- causing my urethra to twist.
Loss of sexual function--it goes way beyond being a busy mom and wife thing....it is extreme.
hair loss-it has always been very thick--it is now thin and have been losing it.
I went to the dr with some of these sympoms--not the muscle, nerve ones ...they ran a bunch of tests and am negative for thyroid, lupus, or hormone issues.
I started a non-inflamming eating program-- and it has helped me somewhat---
I know that the neuro will fill in the holes for me--but wanted to ask others also----
Thank you in advance for reading my long post and for any input.
