Not a greay day for me. Maybe?

Today was my appointment with my shrink, but the jury is still out on this one as to how things went.

Didn't see any dear on the trip up to Nashville, in fact I didn't see any animals at all. No squirrels,  crows, turkeys...Nothing. If it hadn't been for the couple of cars going south I would have thought I was the last thing alive on earth.

We talked some and then all of a sudden he said I didn't seem as irritable today....That should have warned me of how things were going to go for the rest of the day.

He started going through the latest lab tests and started giving me a hard time about not taking b-12. My B-12 is low but still within normal range. I could not help to think he was trying to provoke me.

When we got around to my pain I told him about the Lyrica my MS Neuro want to switch me to and how I'm still waiting on approval of that. So he decided that I should start taking Cymbalta for my pain. I also told him about the leg cramp last Sunday and asked if he could RX a muscle relaxer that I could take if that happened again. End result was NO, I should take the Cymbalta daily  to help with pain. What do they have against muscle relaxers anyway?

Also talked to him about how my VA neuro said she was going to put in a consult for me to get those WalkAide foot drop system for my feet, but no consult was actually put in. He checked into who I had to talk with about it and off I went to the Pharmacy.

I got to the pharmacy and their were 30 people ahead of me. But they were calling new numbers about every minute so I figured that would not be so bad. They had 4 booths open up until 5 numbers before mine. Then they closed 3 of them and progress slowed to a crawl. It took another 1/2 before I was called.

When I go to the booth the lady there is busy filling out a bunch of forms and completely ignoring me. Finally after a while she looks up and asks me my name, but immediately goes back to filling out those forms on the desk. After a while she then said "What was you name again" Grrrr... Finally after 1/2 hour of this she tells me the Cymbalta was denied because the pharmacy didn't like they way the RX was written and I'll have to go back up to the doctor to have the RX resubmitted. By this time I was ready to pick up my cane and hit her with it. This is where the not irritable comment of the shrink comes in. :) Good thing I hadn't gone to the pharmacy first!

So I head up to the Neurology office to get things straightened out about the consult. But I find out instead that everyone is at a meeting and won't be back for over an hour. So I ran into a tech in the hall way that works in Neurology and he is kind enough to leave a not for the Secretary to do something about this. I then head back for to the MHC on the 3rd floor to get the RX the shrink gave fixed up. But he is no where to be found and the nurse is on the way out the door for the day. After some talking I got the nurse to at least leave a note of my shrink about the RX before he left.

Here is where the Maybe comes in. The Neurology Secretary left a message on my phone that she had sent a message to the resident Neuro on duty to have the consult for a "walking Aid" to be put in.  I truly suspect that when the Prosthetics department has me come in they will be trying to set me up with a walker or cane which of course I already have both.

Well at least on the way home I did get to see some deer. There were 3 of them along side of the Trace and as I approached they all got into picture perfect poses. Do you think they knew how bad things had been going for me today? :)

Went on-line this morning and saw that my shrink got the Cymbalta RX filled after after all.  It will probably arrive early next week.

JJ.

I doubt that would work since my shrink is the head of the department. As such he is well known around the VA and he wouldn't get the run around Vets get.

Yes, I believe the deer were the payoff for the crappy day everyone in that blasted system put you through.  As always, I am sorry you are not getting better care.

Wow what a day! Sounds like you got a run around in more ways than one. Why do VA hospitals have to be such a pain.I know a few people who go to them and it is always a mess.

I really hope that your docs get everything straightened out. Glad you got to see some wildlife on your ride home :)

Gosh Dennis, next time you see that psych, tell him to spend a few hours trying to navigate through the VA's snakes and ladders game like his patients do and you'll see how annoyed he gets the next time he just walks in the building. lol talk about raising your blood pressure days visiting the VA, they must know what its like.

Well at least the ride home was nice, the deer were at least accomodating!

Cheers...........JJ
