2 new symptoms

I'm now experiencing 2 new symptoms...pain like discomfort in my left eye, intermittent...happened a week ago for 2 nights on and off, and now back again.  It feel's "full", irritated,  and blurry vision.  I already was checked last fall for optic neuritis because I was having blurry vision...testing came back normal.

yesterday I had about 3 minutes of shock like "dings" on the left side of my back by my spine.  I hadn't strained my back in any way, sensations just came out of the blue...lasted a couple of minutes and then went away.

How much more "textbook" can I present for them to dismiss it as ms?!  This is maddening!  =0

I would not play around with the eye. I would get it checked ASAP. If it is ON you could get on Steroids.

As far as the eye goes you need a consult with a specialty - a neurological opthamologist.

Hi Karen - There are many possible causes for your eye symptoms. The dings you felt for 3 minutes don't sound too MSish to me. Our symptoms tend to stick around for a bit :-)

If you look up almost any neurological symptom MS is likely to be listd as a possible cause. Because it attacks the central nervous system, MS can cause all kinds of symptoms. That doesn't mean that MS is the cause of most neurological symptoms. It's not. MS is pretty rare, effecting  less than 1/2 of 1% of people in the US.

In order to be diagnosed most exhibit some obective evidence. Most often this includes MRI showing old and or new lesions, a postive LP for oligoclonal bands and or a poor clinical evaluation. Absent some combination of these it is likely going to be difficult to get an MS DX.
