Q - it was just about 2 years ago when a friend pointed me in your direction and I continue to be grateful to both her and to you. Everything I wrote here in 2008 is still true, but also so much more.
You continue to be our touchstone - thanks for everything, every time.
~L
Yes, you all ROCK! Thanks for keeping us all sane.....
-Kelly
thank you for your generous and giving nature. You have so much knowledge and you share that with us freely. Many wouldn't do that but you do. I am so grateful that you are here.
You empower us and give us the nudge to deal with our illness and with the medical system with it's flaws and strengths.
To me you make me feel grounded.
Thank you always, Red
You really are wonderful; your contributions and level-headedness make this forum a good place to be.
yup! absolutely what everyone here said.
and perhaps it's worth a re-read of sslowe's advice to keep you from blushing over the doting...
"swirl around your foot and give us an aaaw, shucks..."
i feel so incredibly lucky to have landed here along my journey over these past few months.
there is a quote i once heard about it "not being the load that one carries that breaks them down, but how they carry it". i know we'd all agree that your presense here helps each and everyone of us to carry our load in the best possible way we can. from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Just looking when this thread first started is enough to show how much you are appreciated. I have talked about giving and receiving before and how this is something we all do in life often without even thinking about it. You are one of life's givers and I am sure that when you stopped practising as a paediatrician you must have felt that the bottom fell out of your world.
However, I beleive that when one door closes another opens and it often takes something negative to happen for something positive to develop. If you needed any affirmation that you are so very greatly appreciated in all that you do on this forum then here it is and each and every post that you read is there to make you blush and be a receiver for once. You deserve all the praise, love and thanks from us all for your ongoing support and help. A BIG THANK YOU! I have learnt so much from you and the health pages over the last 6 months. Your sense of humour is awesome and often has me in stitches. :)
With much love
Sarah
Quix, I had wanted to respond to this yesterday, but was too swamped when I saw it to give it proper time. I can understand that a thread like this would make you blush, but it's also nice for all of us to express our sincere appreciation for all of your wisdom that you share so freely.
I'm the kind of person who really wants to understand how things work and why my body is doing what it's doing. I've read and read over the past 8 years, trying to figure out what could be going on, could this be something other than MS? I see a doctor I trust, but I also know that I need to be the one to accurately share information with her in order to get the best care. Your knowledge has helped so many people here to advocate for themselves.
Obviously this forum is wonderful, and many people participate and give incredible advice and have a wealth of knowledge. But do remember that your medical training, combined with your ability to explain things accurately and clearly, is a special thing here. We all have our own experiences and knowledge to share, but you have a special type and large amount of knowledge and it amazing for all of us that you share it with us to freely.
So, I know it's been said many times already, and I know I've said it on other threads, but Thank You Quix!!
Stephanie
Tahnk you soooo much, people. I never know how to respond when this happens except to say that my work with you and your friendships give my life its meaning.
I actually blush. And I hate to see a thread devoted to just one of us. The forum is the total of all of us.
Thanks, again.
Quix
Quix:
We are indeed blessed to have you as a guardian angel helping us find the way in our individual and collective journeys. You offer compassion, sound personal and professional advice as well as being very forthright in sharing your own experiences in dealing with your MyStery disease.
Your contributions, along with the oversight from LuLu, have made this particular forum a most compassionate and useful forum. It is a great source of information, support and camaraderie, not to mention integrity. I'm sure that I speak for others when I say that I know that this is a place where I feel safe posting and trust and respect the responses posted by others as a whole. If someone is off slightly in their post, as I once was, you tactfully offer your expertise to educate us all.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your dedication and caring,
Audrey
I know this is an old post, but I for one think it is one that deserves to be read over and over.
Quix,
You have been a big influence on me and what I need to say to my doctor. your health pages are remarkable information that everyone learns from.
You bring things to our attention in term that we can understand and you are so compassionate about it.
Thank you for all you have done to help us.
Paula
Big GIGANTIC THANK YOU for your online assistance help.We need each other against MS .
Kudos !!!
Don.
I haven't been around as long as most of the others and I have severe cognitive issues but even I know that this forum is in your debt.
I do worry about you though. Several of my friends and I have promised to help each other to stop giving all of the time even at the cost of our own health. Someone commented (doni?) that you do that. While we all appreciate and yes need you, please don't be naughty and cause your own health to worsen because you are busy helping all of us. When you need down time, take it. We want you around for the long haul and would rather miss you from time to time than lose you!
Happy new year & thank you for all you do & for being you :)
Erin
Everyone has said it all so eloquently already, but I just want to add my "Thanks!" and wish you a very happy 2009!
I'm here late and all the right things have already been said!!
I've learned so much from you, and not only about MS, though there you're better than any web site or doctor. But it's also so good to have my thoughts and experiences validated by one who truly knows. So often I've been made to doubt myself, but no more, thanks to you.
May '09 be a year of good health, boundless energy, few worries and lots of fun experiences for you. Enjoy that plazz TV!
Luv,
ess
We are all so Blessed that you are "Our Mama Bear" what would we do with out you looking out for us??. I for one don't want to ever know.
Happy New year "Friend". Please take as good of care of yourself as you do each of us.
I want you to know that you are in my Daily Prayers, and I am here for you, just as you are there for me.
Love filled hugs{{{~!~}}} coming your way
I came here in early '08. Quix took the time to personally help me navigate the fears, confusion, and frustration along the way to my Lyme diagnosis.
I've always felt ok coming here when I was too scared or ill to know where else to turn. I know that Quix is the cornerstone of this wonderful place, setting the tone for compassion, concern, and sharing information.
Happy New Year!
Let's see...without you there would be no diagnosis for Craig. And no help at all for him. You were his only hope in a sea of people who were telling him that he just didn't want to support his family any more and that is why he wouldn't use his legs.
I've told you before how much you mean to our family. That will never change.
Happy 2009!
Elaine
bump..........................
You were so wonderful to me when I came here searching for answers. Even though it turned out not to be MS, you still make me feel welcome, and answer any questions I might ask you. You are a very special Angel to us all. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hugs & Prayers
Maggie
Just had a thought; you're still piecing together beautiful quilts; look at us!
love,
kathy
You have crafted quite the journey of adventure here for all of us as we battle the unknowns, face our own infirmities, and take on the doctors who would lead us down the wrong path.
Those of us who are co-cl's love playing the role of your trusty companion, being available to help with the tasks necessary while you tackle the looming demons all around us. It is an honor to work so closely with a person of such compassion, dedication, and willingness to battle on in the face of long odds and absolutely no compensation except for our gratitude.
You elevate everyone who comes here looking for assistance into becoming much like Dulcinea, glorious in your eyes and worthy of your attention. That is such a healing gift to give to all of us.
The children of Portland surely lost a wonderful pediatrician when you wisely retired from that practice, but in no way did you give up the healing arts. Each word you write, being it medical information, practical advice, or your humorous kick in the a ss you are known to dole out, is savored by everyone here.
Don't ever doubt the debt we all feel to you, Q. Keep leading us with head held high.
Chivalry is not dead,
Sancho
