Alcohol and MS

Ive had relapsing MS for a few years now. I am a female in my mid 20s, going out on the weekends is still something i like to do. when i was younger I could slam beer like it was nobodys business. the past 2 years i go out and have 2 maybe 3 beers and im drunk.I never use to be like that. and no i never stopped for a long period of time to where i should have lost my tolorence.

So i suppose my question is people who have MS, is this a common.....or has anyone else experienced this or am i just crazy(haha)?

thank you in advance for your answers

Hi and welcome to our little MS community,

Id say a lower tolerance for alcohol is a factor for pwMS, we've talked about this a few times before [see search this community at the top of your page] and there was a few getting legless on less than one drink. Some medications  when combined with alcohol can make you feel drunk but there seems to be an (anecdotal) association regardless, doubt there will be any research to confirm it though :o)

One pot screamer.........JJ

There probably is no connection directly with your MS but are you taking any other drugs that the alcohol could be interacting with? I hope you find a way to keep socializing with your friends - it's important to remain connected. best, Laura

i relapse roughly every 4 months and ive tried numerous medicines and diet changes,i just tend to live with it.but being in the criminal justice system, weed is not a choice for me whatsoever. im not a crazy drunk i just like to go out with friends in the weekends after long work weeks. they can have a few drinks and be completely fine and then there is me,after 2 beers im really feeling it.

i havent changed any (drinking) behavior, i havent really found anything in the internet that says people who have MS get drunk quicker than people who do not have it.

its not a bad thing because im a cheap date, just curious is all.
