Another flair?

Well, dang!  Another bug is trying hard to get me, and sure enough, the weakness is increased (but just a little), the urinary urgency/hesitancy is increased (a little more), and my gut shut down for about 5 days.  Nothing moved!  I wasn't hungry, but I ate a little just because I felt I needed SOMETHING.  Raw veggies, Senna caps, Miralax,  finally on day 5, Hallelujah!

My gut just doesn't behave like it used to.  I don't feel hungry. Sometimes in the morning it growls, so I give it a little Greek yogurt with a few spoonfuls of granola.  I'm drinking water (well, OK, maybe not enough).  Lately, my biggest signal that I'd better eat something is - I get cold.  Along about 2 in the afternoon, if I'm not asleep, I get to feeling chilly, and I look at the clock and say, "well holy smokes, it's time to eat", and I do eat a sandwich.

I know this isn't the classic description of Gastroparesis, but things ain't what they used to be.

Any ideas?  I did e-mail my neuro...

One warning if your gut is not working avoid the olive oil as much as possible. It actually adds to the problem. I was surprised to learn this. I used more olive oil thinking it would help things along but it was making it worse go figure. I had to cut out certain fruits and vegetables as well, just for awhile. It is confusing. Potatoes, rice and beans were also adding to the problem. This is a complicated condition.

Now I am back on track and go back to some of my normal diet.

Thanks, Sumana and Alex!  Alex, I think you and I eat in the same style.  I'll just keep on keepin' on.

Off to eat some homegrown sauteed kale...a little salt and pepper, a tsp of olive oil...

Sorry for more symptoms you really do not need them. My gut shut down for 8 weeks. I was not hungry and did not eat as much, this actually made mine worse. Everything was just staying and the sugars fermenting and my abdomen go bigger and bigger. I started dropping weight then stopped even though I was not really eating because I was so bloated.

I now eat small meals all day to keep it going. On top of the plain yogurt I eat. I take probiotics 4 times a day and 2 fiber pills I got from a box store. I all ready had a high fiber diet. A pretty good diet but I had to adjust it.

I will eat yogurt with granola, then greens, then a vegetable and protein, then an apple, nuts, other vegetables and fruit. I keep doing this in rotation in small meals all day. Eggs are good but I do not tolerate them.  I really have to stay away from desserts, processed foods, etc. I realized my birthday week sets it off with eating cake and going out to lunch with the girls. Memorial day was hard with hot dogs etc. I have learned I have to be careful.

I basically do not feel my bowel anymore. It was happening for a lot longer I was too embarrassed to admit it. I sit down on the can and visualize my insides at the same time everyday. I do usually go. Mine is not straining it is just not moving. I feel urgency and sit down and nothing happens.

My Doctor says this is just the way it is for me. She gave me no real suggestions or follow up. The diet is my own with looking at gastoparesis diets on the internet.

I stopped dropping weight and got my strength back. My other MS symptoms have gotten better. This is just my experience. I would encourage you to contact your Doctor. All MS Specialists may be in Canada as Lulu said.

My entire gastro system is slow...just like my body.  It is not unusual to not ...err...do my thing just once a week.  I use stool softners daily.  I drink lots of fluid.  It just doesn't seem to matter, no system go....lol

I  just don't worry about it.  It seems if MS can slow everything else down why not my gastro system, too?
