Hang in the Knana, we all need our moms to take care of us when we are ill.
My best, Lulu
Thanks for posting your comments. They confirm what I thought would likely be the case. My daughter was on IV steroids during flares. During her episode of ON earlier this year, she was on the IV solu-medrol again, and also on a slow taper of oral steroids. At present, she is suffering through a bad cold and I'm hoping it will not lead to ON again. Thanks again!
Thanks for your replyl Lulu. You're right, as moms, we worry and that will always be so, no matter how old the child. In answer to your question about my daughter's present vision, it did return, but not quite fully but is probably going to be that way now. She still has occasional fragmented vision in the eye.
It's quite likely that your daughter will have a reoccurence of optic neuritis, either in the same eye or the other one. If it looks like she's going into a flare, the experts recommend an IV infusion of solumedrol. IV steroids are better at preventing reoccurence of ON over the oral steroid... don't know why, that's just what they say.
Hi Knana, I'm so glad you found us here. Several members of this community have experienced ON on various levels but I have not personally. Has your daughter's vision returned in the eye that was effected or is the vision loss permanent?
I'm a mom of adult children and would be worried sick if this were my child. My mom is 85 and I know she spends sleepless nights worrying about me. You're doing what moms do best - worrying over the health and happiness of our children.
Try to get more answers so you don't have to be as worried,
