does anyone have any experience with Tysabri and having surgery?  I've bee on Tysabri for 10 months and am now scheduled for major neck surgery.  Not any articles about it.  any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the MS Forum.  Glad you joined us.

While I do not take Tysabri, I do know that your doctor should know about your usage so he and the anesthesiologist can verse you on whether the drug needs to be stopped before surgery.  If you do this in advance of the surgery, the anesthesiologist can get all the information they need about Tysabri and whether it's contrindicated when you have to go through surgery.

Good for you, for finding out what you can about surgery and Tysabri.  Alot of the general doctors and surgeons, do not know anything about any of the DMD's, so it's important that you let your surgeon know, so they can be prepared.  Better not to take any chances.

Please let us know what you find out, as I am sure that this kind of question will come up again.  You can help us learn more about the protocol of this drug when having surgery.

Welcome to the forum.  I don't have experience to speak of, but wanted to say hello and thank you for joining us.  

We only have a few who have been or were on Tysabri but they are not always around.  Have you been feeling better since you started?

Do you have regular labs run on your blood, i.e., CBC, etc.?

Boy am I full of question, ha/ha.. hope to see you around!
