Avonex - red spots at injection site

Just wondering if anyone has ever experienced red spots, about the size of a quarter, near your injection site? Like a sunburn kind of red. More specifically, they don't show up until a few days after the injection and are sore like a bruise but a pale red color & last weeks.

My regular bruises last weeks. These spots aren't hot, itchy, raised etc I am wondering if it's a deep bruise in the muscle caused by the injection? I am hoping anyway. I have 3 so far. If this keeps up, I will run out of places to inject on my thighs. I did notice the one time it showed up that it hurt to use the muscle in my thigh but by the next morning it felt fine but was still reddish. I can't seem to find anything about it online.

I should also note that I use the Avonex Pen so there is more force when injecting. I also bruise easy but recent lab work came back ok.

Thanks!

Thanks Shell. I appreciate it!

I love the pen. I am one of those that suffers from anxiety from stabbing myself with a needle. With the pen, I don't see the needle so I don't even hesitate. The needle is also much smaller.

Hi there NJGirl!

Yes, those spots are very common. I get them myself, and I'll take them anyday over itching or lumpy.

Mine too show up a day or two afterward. They do fade away over time. Mine have been slightly warm sometimes - othertimes they are not.

I don't use an autoinjector. I feel it's the medicine, which is acidic.

How do you like the new pen?
