Back from Hols! or vacation as you all say!

Well we have decided we are not the cruising type having tried it my body may feel 80 years old but my mind is not and this cruise ships entertainment was definitley for the over 80's. Visiting the different countries was good until in Corsica I lost my balance and went flying. Grazed knee (just like a school kid) and some huge brusies on my legs and wrist!

Anyway just before we went, I had an dr. appointment. In short he is changing the Gabapentin to Pregabalin which he is asking my GP to over see when I'd returned from holiday. Also did a blood test for sarcoid, as I have had eye problems, he felt this was unlikley but wanted the test done. If that is negative he is refering me to a specialist for botox which will help the TN pain.

So I have returned to find a letter from my GP to go and see him as soon as I return from holiday. So that's tomorrow.

I can't find much out about botox for TN. Also is sarcoid an MS mimic?

Thanks Lulu,
Have been to GP and blood test for sarcoid is negative. Really pleased about that.

He has given me the plan to swap from Gabapenten to pregabalin. This means to begin with lowering the gabapentin dose by 300mg every 3 days (I'm on 1800mg at the moment) and then when I'm down to 600mg of gabapentin a day I start to add the pregabalin 75mg to begin with then upping it every 3 days till I reach 300mg a day at the same time still reducing the gabapentin to zero. Hope that makes sense. Anyway the midday dose today I have taken 300mg instead of the 600mg and everything is feeling bad, so now I'm really concerned about lowering the gabapentin so far with out adding anything.

Thanks for the google on botox I had worded it differently and came up with not alot! I am trying to find out where the injections go into I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing. But hey! It may get rid of a few wrinkles!
Thanks again

I just googled treating trigeminal neuralgia with botox and came up with a ton of information - try that to find out more.

Hi twist and welcome home- So sorry the cruiseline you were on wasn't your type - I trust you made the best of it anyway.

Yes, sacroidosis is definitely a mimic.  I hope they get those results back for you soon.

Botox is approved for upper body spasticity here, and is also being used in neurogenic bladders.  I'm not familiar with its use for TN, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Good luck with the GP - keep us posted with update, ok?
be well, Lu
