Bad Day

I had a bad day and long, bad night, Tuesday (3/31).  After work, I was all set to go to a Yoga class when my right leg and hip spasmed really tightly.  I couldn't walk, bend it or stretch it without a LOT of pain.  So I drove 45 minutes home (it let up about 10 minutes before I got home).  Did some Yoga on my own, Hubby stretched my quads, and rubbed out back spasms.  Made dinner, cleaned up, went to bed, and woke at about 1:30 with leg spasms.  Leaped out of bed, swearing, trying to stretch it all out.  Climbed back into bed, and for the next 4 1/2 hours, repeated the pattern.  Work was tough the next day, and thankfully, I was able to leave early because it was slow.  I see my Neuro April 7, and since the middle of March, I've become weaker, spazzier, and more exhausted.  I'm hoping to get closer to a diagnosis so I can start DMDs.

Thanks, ladies.  I guess just a short vent...thanks for the video suggestions!  Will do.  I figured after reading Lulu's post (and of course she's right - DMDs may only slow progression, not ease spasms), I need to look into something like Baclofen or Vallium or something else.

Slept much better the following night.
Thanks.

hi GG,
Just want to point out that being on the DMD will not stop the spasming and pain associated with it.  You need to talk to your doctor sooner instead of later and ask for the appropriate drug to help with this symptom.  Please don't wait to discuss treatment for this until you get a dx, ok?

The DMD's treat the disease and the other drugs work for the symptoms of the disease.

feel better,
Lulu

Hmm, it would probably be the last thing you would think of doing while your in such awful spasms, but could you or your hubby possibly videotape your spazzing?

That way you can show your neuro what it's like even if it doesn't happen in his office.  I have both a camera and a cell phone that have video capabilities.  (I've tried to record my eyes when I wake up with jittery vision, but its not easy to do)

Hopefully your hubby could help, and then help with stretching and massage.  I'm glad you have him to help out when you're going through that.

I hope your appointment goes well.

Take care,

Kathy

Yikes, that sounds awful! I'm so glad you see your neuro next week. I hope this spazzing happens in his office. He needs to see this.

Please let us know how the appointment goes.

Hang in there,

ess
