Better to wait it out or go for steroids??

I am in SEVERE pain............I put this right up there with childbirth, but worse.  Head to toe relentless pain...........this is the same pattern of the attack that I had 4 years ago and ultimately got steroids (which provided instant relief, but of course the side effects). If it isn't life threatening, should I continue to just cope using heavy duty painkillers (which I have left over from a surgery and saved for situations JUST like this) until they run out, OR ask for steroids??? I just wonder how long I would have to tough it out................what's the norm?????

Thanks, everyone..........how can I tell what is nerve pain vs. joint pain???? That sounds like such a silly question............I honestly don't know...........and yes, it's worse than childbirth............I am in agony.  The pain killers don't touch it, but they do knock me out and put me out of the misery I am feeling.    I'm getting really DOWN about this :(((((((((((((   Thank you guys for the support and welcome.

Any other thoughts on nerve vs. joint pain, please know I appreciate each and every tip that anyone might have :(((((((((((((((((((

Mocha (sorry to sound so 'needy'.............I am normally one that is a helper and supporter, not one who needs to much :((

Hi i lurk on here from time to time mainly when sx are bad or new like they are now.

i just had my 5 th bout of head to toe body spasms as i call them off the roof hurt!! constantly contracting muscles left me in bed for two weeks i gave into diazapam in the end for the whole week then come off them again but like shell says it depends what type of pain this is neuro based or muscles based.

I'd ring DR for sure no pains worth that and it might not be steroids you need this time they might be able to give you something different.

take care.

Hi Mocha,

I don't think I've said hello yet, and I'm sorry.

I think you should bring it up to the Dr.  Those pain killers may not do a thing depending on what type of pain you are experiencing.

I'd say pain up there w/childbirth warrants a call the Dr......

Sorry to not be very helpful, but I do hope you get to feeling better soon,
Shell
