From my understand. I think a "flair" tends to be defined as a new or re-occurring symptom that lasts more than 24 hours. Doesn't make any symptom any more fun, even if it only lasts 60 or even 3 minutes.
I have PPMS and have good times and not so good. I am in a not so good. I am supposed to go to the State Fair Tomorrow with my husband and I think it may flatten me completely. My symptoms are so bad at the moment. I guarrarentee I will have one of my dread Diaphragm spasms by days end. I have had two in a week. The last was last night. The only thing that does not hurt is my big toe on the left which is numb. I am beyond tired.
Though we do not have real flairs we can have good and bad periods.

Hi Beth
Primary Progressive doesn't typically have the dramatic relapses that are seen in Relapsing Remitting. There is a Progressive Relapsing type but that is rather rare I think.
With PPMS, you will have a progressive disease that may be slow, fast or anything in between. I seem to sort of rotate symptoms. Right now I am have major problems with balance, weakness in my legs and more. My spasms and pain never end though. For me, there are symptoms that are constant. My legs will start to shake if I do too much and I use a walker if I have to go out. So it changes allot.
I was initially told I have PPMS but recently told it might be Secondary Progressive. Not much difference that I know of.
Hope this helps

Hi, Beth! Hey, I always wake up with increased symptoms. I have a hard time walking from my bed to the bathroom, and I usually stumble through my morning routine. I have a little bit of energy from 10 until 11:30, and then I get ready for work.
I know a lot of people talk about a natural 'down time' and most have it between 11 and 4:00 pm. Mine usually happens between 12 and 3:30.
